This Unsung Rabari Herder From Kutch Played a Key Role in Two Indo-Pak Wars. The Pakistani army captured many villages in the Kutch area just before the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.Pagi went into the captured areas to gather information from both villagers & his own relatives. 2/n
This greatly assisted the Indian army. In one of his most remarkable achievements, Ranchod Pagi traced the location of 1200 Pak soldiers hiding in the wilderness in utter darkness. He also helped the @adgpi capture several key posts during the 1965 & 1971 wars with Pakistan. 3/n

This week a healthy Hornbeam tree was cut down in a deliberate act of vandalism in a Southampton cemetery. We were touched by the level of support on social media and have passed on intel to the police (1/12)

The story doesn’t end there however. After seeing our post, @MarwellWildlife got in touch about the tree… It turns out Hornbeam is a favourite food of their Okapi. They made the generous offer to pick up the felled tree and put it to good use in feeding their animals. (2/12)

Santosh Solanki, a ward assistant at the Naidu Infectious Diseases Hospital, Pune has been serving patients amidst the Covid pandemic. During the swine-flu outbreak as well, he was one of the many faceless staffers who worked from morning till late at night.
While doctors and nurses are often recognised for their work, seldom are ward assistants or orderlies given any credit. Yet, staffers like Solanki continue to serve the patients selflessly. Even Solanki’s mother was a cleaning staff at the hospital, so was his grandmother.
Solanki says, “There are times when we are treated badly by patients or their family members, but I have no regrets. Rich or poor, we are all humans. The disease doesn’t discriminate. We know that they are under tremendous stress. So, we always respond to all patients politely.”
