Click bait tweets from “news organizations” continue to dominate Twitter and reflect a “he said” stenography that should have been retired decades ago. We need a #truthSandwich not stenography.

Wednesday’s @YorkDispatch “news” is that he gave a speech claiming systemic racism doesn’t exist. Buried in the story is rebuttal from academic research.
WHY was his speech news? It wasn’t “new” nor was it “novel”.

Far too much of what is “printed” or “broadcast” does not help foster an informed citizenry. Certainly reporting on this speech did not.

In NE US states, mortality was 76% above normal during the 11 peak weeks of the pandemic, greater than any European country. Trump repeatedly claims without evidence that Europe had a 30+% greater increase in excess mortality than the US. The US NE was harder hit.
The Trump claims that are completely disconnected from reality cannot be rebutted with a soundbite.
And repetition makes them not only memorable but makes them "seem" to be truthful (familiarity breeds faith not contempt in this context).
