Why is the word "access" a signifier that slips to "love."

Access is not love. Access is the law.

I don't need you to "love" me in order to make something accessible.

In fact, I don't want your "love." That implies a relationship I don't consent to.
This is not easy shit to say publicly because of how widely adopted access = love.

Justin Dart started this.

Justin Dart's motto: "I love you. Lead on."

No. I don't love you. I don't have to love you. Love is not part of my bid for civil rights. I won civil rights in 1990.
This idea that I, a disabled person, need to "love" you, in order to get access from you?

That seems abusive to me. Actually. Now that I think about it.

I should have access because it is the law.

Not because I love you.

Not because I show you any kind of "special" emotion

WoLF submitted public comments to the US Department of Education's proposed Title IX regulations.

#SexNotGender #TitleIX

Written by one of our Advisory Council members, our comments express our deep concern about how these proposed rules will harm women and girls.

#SexNotGender #TitleIX
Since 1972, Congress has interpreted "sex" under #TitleIX as allowing differential treatment based on sex in some settings, including single-sex athletics, toilets, locker rooms, & showers. These exist to ensure women have safe, equal access to educ. opportunities. #SexNotGender

Hereā€™s how YOU can fight back to restore & protect all #Womenā€™s rights:

Women's rights are under attack like never before. SCOTUS erased constitutional rights for pregnant womenĀ in #Dobbs &Ā #TitleIX was destroyed in 2020 when most sexual misconduct on campus becameĀ legal./1
These vitally important rights for women cannot be fixed by Congress or by Biden. Indeed, Biden's recent announcement that heĀ plans toĀ fix the Trump-era 2020Ā Title IX regulationsĀ is misleading; his boondoggleĀ 700 page proposal will not restore Title IX to its full potential. /2
Codifying Roe will not help bc thereā€™s no constitutional guarantee that it will be ENFORCED equally on Womenā€™s behalf. Only the EqualĀ Rights Amendment (ERA)Ā can help by establishing a constitutional foothold to ensureĀ full & equal protection of ALL women's rights in ALL courts./3

For 50 years, #TitleIX has transformed the meaning of equality & opportunity ā€“ in our classrooms, on the playing field & everywhere. In honor of this anniversary, today we unveiled a portrait of the godmother of Title IX & our beloved late colleague, Congresswoman Patsy Mink.
With the help of her sheer force of will, Congresswoman Mink led the charge alongside Congresswoman Edith Green and Senator Birch Bayh to craft and enact this landmark legislation ā€“ advancing a brighter, fairer future for women and girls.
This historic achievement has provided a springboard for women to succeed in and out of the classroom: empowering so many to pursue their dreams of becoming doctors and engineers, heads of businesses and non-profits, and even pioneering public servants.

On my feed you will find out how #AmberHeard is connected to #ChessyProut #MicheleDauber #LauraLDunn #TinaTchen #TimesUp #NWLC #SKDK #PrecisionStrategies #ACLU #KnowYourIX and the political sham behind her. My research started with NH v Owen Labrie...:
From NH v Owen Labrie I discovered a network behind his accuser, Chessy Prout. That network was also behind Chanel Miller, Brock Turner's accuser in People v Brock Turner; behind Amber Heard, Johnny Depp's accuser. It looks like it was organized recruiting and racketeering.
That network was also tied to The White House Task Force formed in 2014 and to the "Dear Colleague" Title IX letter published in 2011 and updated with the White Paper "Not Alone" in 2014, the lobbying for "Victim's Bill of Rights" (2016) and #MeToo (2017) & Times Up (2018).

Part of this #UNSPORTING situation is the need to ask.
This is the inevitable endpoint, right?
Bullying & gaslighting of female athletes, all for the sake of #sports organizations TRYING to be ā€œinclusiveā€ of (largely) privileged white males representing ~0.15% of the population.
Since I am both a former athlete, #sports program designer, and personal coach who also serves as president of a provincial sports organization (governance), my perspective of ā€œbig pictureā€ informs me that retaking lost ground requires a coordinated effort.
One-off efforts ā€¦
ā€¦will make headlines but deep within #sport random boycotts or tweeting something will never be enough. Nothing wrong with these initial measures, but something much more comprehensive is going to be required, involving:
Athletes
Coaches
Families
Sponsors
Bureaucrats
Politicians

#TitleIX passed 50 years ago, but today the biggest college sport programs are abusing accepted rules to make it look like they offer thousands more female athletic opportunities than they do.

We looked at 107 public FBS schools to see how they manipulated their rosters & found:

-- 2,252 spots added by double- and triple-counting athletes

-- 800+ spots added in stuffed rowing rosters

-- 601 male practice players counted on women's basketball teams
All of this, remarkably, is allowed.

"I donā€™t think you can really accuse the school of doing anything wrong if it is playing by the rules," said attorney Arthur Bryant, who has litigated Title IX cases for decades. "Then itā€™s the rules that need to be fixed.ā€

JUST IN: It has been confirmed that a proposed new #TitleIX rule will be published in April 2022, which will start the public comment period (also known as NPRM--notice for proposed rule-making). This is one month earlier than originally stated.

We want to be clear that this timeline is still late. Students can't wait. Students deserve to have their protections restored immediately.

We have pushed. We have urged. We have protested. We have demanded for #EDActNow, not in April.
And we will continue to push. We will continue to urge. We will continue to protest. We will continue to demand.

Students and survivors are fed up. @usedgov needs to meet students where they are at. And that is NOW. Not later.

DeVos' new Title IX rule would require schools to dismiss most reports of violence that occur off- campus, and all that occur outside of the U.S.

Here's why that matters:
Only about 8% of all sexual assaults involving middle school, high school and college students occur on school property.

That means DeVosā€™ Title IX rule would require schools to dismiss around 92% of all reports of assault.
DeVos' #TitleIX rule would mean students that are assaulted off-campus will either have to share a classroom with their rapist or drop out of the class.

Title IX is meant to protect survivors' right to an education. Instead, this rule would push survivors out of school.
