First, general consensus of mine: was a solid presentation. The dual release doesn't rub well with the exibitors and they need desperatly need to get their trust back. Lots of investiment to say without saying that there is no way to go back to the dual release model. #CinemaCon
Now: #TheBatman got a sequel!!! Again, the point is to please the exibitors. Reeves was early today saying the importance of the movie was exibit first at the Cinemas, and this is the first major hit of WB post-pandemic. Everybody is happy, from all sides. #CinemaCon

As i promise (and after a long time) I’ll finally talk in details about #TheBatman, what I think about things and besides been a solid movie, isn’t necessary a relevant one as a Batman adaptation. With that said... lets start.
I can say that watching #TheBatman was a… strange experience. Not just my reaction to the result, but also the nature of how the project was started.
Originally a film in the almost-dead DCEU with Ben Affleck, until Matt Reeves realized the trap that Geoff Johns (at the time Chief Creative Officer) wanted to put him on, and fought to make his film belong in a closed universe.

Jerry Frick’s behavior is insulting. Not nice. The direction & writing (*hopefully intention as well) depict that *even if it’s faint AF* (or subjected to some manipulation in the now widely shared clip).

The film is aesthetic is amazing. Gotham actually feels like Gotham. The dark corners make you feel claustrophobic.
It makes you like someone could be around the corner about to shank you.

This is where Matt Reeves out does Nolan. Many of you know I'm a Nolan fan boy, but I never felt Gotham as a city in his interpretation of it. Matt's Gotham seems a lot more flushed out and dangerous. It doesn't look like a regular city. 2/

Y aunque sí es cierto q en esas 3h podrían haber hecho más a nivel psicológico, lo q vimos merece análisis,porque la parte psicológica es IMPECABLE.

#TheBatman no ha tenido miedo a abrazar sus referentes, ni mucho menos ha tenido miedo a la hora de mostrarnos lo que Batman realmente es a nivel psicológico, y eso, aunque a muchos no les guste, convierte a esta película en única en cuanto a adaptación del personaje se refiere.
Matt Reeves ha sabido analizar e interpretar la infancia de Bruce para dar vida a su Batman. Parte poco explorada en los cómics pero que da respuesta y vida a todas las decisiones que luego desencadenan en la figura de Batman y todo lo que es y hace.

Nos será imposible abarcar la riqueza de este movimiento, como el de cualquiera, pero nos centraremos en el europeo y en ciertas características propias del mismo que retoman posteriormente algunas vanguardias artísticas de ppios. del S.XX, desembocando en #TheBatman
#TheBatman opening at $128 mil in the US is actually pretty impressive. The last 2 Batman solo films set records and opened bigger ($155 and $160), but considering the pandemic, the length, and the fact it's much more neo-noir than action movie, that's not a big drop.
Batman's been durable box-office gold since 1989, of course, but still - there's been a lot of Batman in the 2000s and an endless stream of superhero movies and I wouldn't have been surprised if this one underperformed.
I think WB maybe had that in mind too, because while the final production budget is estimated at $185 to $200 mil, it appears the film's initial pre-pandemic budget was more modest than The Dark Knight or Snyderverse films.

Veo con algunos que LA frase, dentro de todo el discurso, es "fear is a tool". Muy merecido, creo yo. Es una noción poderosa, muy bien presentada.

Bueno, no quise hacer este hilo ayer porque estaba muy encabronada y esperé a que me bajara el coraje, les voy a contar como @Cinepolis en #LaPaz me arruinó (de nuevo) mi experiencia en el cine, y no fue cualquier película fue con #TheBatman lo cual es IMPERDONABLE
Como no había funciones subtituladas en la sala macro pues nimodo, a comprar boletos en una de las salitas, finalmente lo que yo quería era ver la película en el cine al cual no iba desde hacía 3 meses por lo mismo de malas experiencia, pero bueno, les iba a dar otra oportunidad
El día llegó y pues llegamos al cine y la primera red flag en el @Cinepolis es que tenían cerrado el coffe tree o como vergas se llama entonces no había crepas ni baguettes, pero OK, aun iba a ver #Batman y eso era lo que importaba, me dirigí a gastar $400 en la pinche dulcería
#TheBatman is a long hard boiled noir rather than smart popcorn action thriller. Opinion may depend on what you want a Batman movie to be. Loved the character psychology, textured world building, supporting performances, & Giacchino’s score. Still digesting other elements. 8.7/10

Honestly wild that The Lego Batman, a movie I love, is so low. But speaks to the franchise's overall impressive hit rate.

This film is not a superhero film, this is up there along with Se7en and Zodiac. This movie exhibits the worlds's greatest detective.

Gotham is rich, literally flooded in secrets and truths waiting to be unmasked. It is a world that is intentionally made to be discovered. From start to finish, i feel it to be a combination of Telltale and Arkham games. Its realistic, there's something mythical about it.
The action is not the focus for me, but goddamn they are amazing. Go watch it in IMAX, you can feel every single punch batman throws and absorbs. And spoiler alert, that car chase scene is peak cinema. And i heard they used relatively less CGI too, a lot of practical goodness
