der Pandemie. Diese Zahl hat sich in den ersten beiden Wochen des Jahres 2023 um 8.500 erhöht. Die berechneten überzähligen Todesfälle (4.083) in der zweiten Woche waren deutlich höher als die Zahl der Todesfälle, bei denen COVID auf der Sterbeurkunde erwähnt wurde (922).

Laut den jüngsten Schätzungen des Robert Koch-Instituts (RKI) sind zuletzt etwa neun Millionen Menschen neu an einem akuten Atemwegsinfekt erkrankt. Die Gesamtrate an Atemwegserkrankungen liege damit weiterhin deutlich über dem Bereich der Vorjahre und auch über dem Höhepunkt
früherer schwerer Grippewellen, schreibt das RKI in seinem aktuellen Wochenbericht. Das RKI rechnet mit rund 2.800 Arztbesuchen pro 100.000 Einwohner aufgrund von Atemwegserkrankungen, was hochgerechnet auf die Gesamtbevölkerung eine Summe von etwa 2,3 Millionen Arztbesuchen

Aktuell liegen der TK die Krankmeldungen bis einschließlich November und Anfang Dezember vor, wobei da noch mit Nachzüglern zu rechnen ist. Doch selbst ohne die Krankmeldungen für den kompletten Dezember liegt der Krankenstand schon jetzt rund 29 Prozent über dem Vorjahreswert
(3,98 Prozent) und sogar rund 21 Prozent über dem bisherigen Höchstkrankenstand von 4,25 Prozent im Jahre 2018.

A number of European countries (IE, FR, NL, ES, SE and UK) indicate an increase seen during 2022, particularly since September, in the number of cases of invasive Group A Streptococcus (#iGAS) disease among children less than ten years of age.

Es gibt das beliebte Narrativ: Infektionen sind gut fürs Immunsystem! Schon der Umkehrschluss zeigt, dass es so einfach nicht ist: Ist ein Kind seltener krank, hat es ein schlechtes Immunsystem? Nein. Das kindliche Immunsystem ist von Anfang an gut gerüstet.
Jede Krankheit ist für ein Kind auch eine Belastung: Wenn ich krank bin, fühle ich mich beschissen, und dann bin ich nicht auf einem mutigen Entwicklungspfad. Wenn ein Kind weniger Infekte hat, hat es mehr Tage, an denen es mit wachen Augen seine Umwelt erforschen kann.
