#StopRacism CEO of Japan’s #DHC mocks its rival company #Suntory in a public statement for using Korean figures in their ads saying they’re ridiculed as “Chontory” on the internet. ‘Chon’ is a derogatory term for Koreans. Imagine this statement being released this year, in 2020.
“Chon” is derogatory term for Koreans living in Japan (‘zainichi’ Koreans) but is considered an all-encompassing term to denigrate ALL Koreans (and is used as such). You can say DHC took the risk to lose the Korean market. All Koreans are entitled to boycott DHC for this outrage.
Translation: “Somehow, the personalities used in Suntory’s ads are almost all Korean-Japanese. For this reason, they appear to be ridiculed on the internet as Chontory. DHC [on the other hand,] is a pure Japanese company including all personalities who are all Japanese.”

Walking around downtown Lansing and a guy threatened either my friend and I or the Asian family across from us to “shoot this city up thanks to you” with something just before that. He pressed the gas and drove off fast at the end, so that was enough for me to fear the worst.
When people tell me they don’t see racism and don’t have to fear issues of color in their neighborhood, I know they walk with blinders on. I hear that from people who “work with an African American” or “have good family friends who are a different race.”
But this is not the first time I’ve been yelled at by a random person some random threat, or witnessed someone else be harassed for their color.

We adults know how to deal with it. My friends in the WhatsApp group said their kids got teased and verbal abused. They are so young they don’t even understand what’s going on. So sad!
