Snowdrop is just being hated for a wrong reason. gathamchun is the reason of that petition. he twist, exaggerate, & spread fake news on his twitter posts but non viewers belive it coz it looks legit. but if you compare his posts to what was shown in the 2 episodes, you will >>

The grain company rep was particularly apologetic. They were ashamed that their products had been used in Snowdrop as they themselves had been a part of democratization protests in their youth. They added they had also signed the petition.
One clothing brand B******* replied that they had never sponsored Snowdrop, but had been listed erroneously. They added that their lawyer was contacting the production to request a correction.
Snowdrop is a drama that distorts Korea's democratization movement into a case of espionage. At that time, tens of thousands of innocent people were killed by the state power. Please don't watch this drama that distorts democracy in Korea.

He definitely said some words at the presscon that were pretty meaningless. He tried to argue “we’re just using the setting, this isn’t about history, it’s a fictional romance.” Meanwhile every single character description mentions concrete historical events.
The company also tried to argue back in March that the drama is about the 1987 election, not the 1987 student protests (aka the June Struggle). This argument is complete nonsense.
Because we see it for what it is. Because we lived and learned this history and we know what is happening in Korea right now. Because this is not just fiction *to us.*
