Democrats are doing pretty poorly overall in 2019 special elections thus far. They are at risk of giving back quite a bit of ground to the GOP if they can't right this ship.
The final margin looks like it was a 5.46% margin of victory for the Republican.

2ND RESULT: Robert Jackson defeats state Sen. Marisol Alcantara in in #SD31. Alcantara was a member of the IDC, which allied with the GOP.
