How do you remember what you learn? Using a Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) system can help. A PKM system is a set of tools and processes that help you capture, organize, and review notes and information.
You create a second brain. Whenever you need notes on this or that subject, they are easily available.

So, what tools should be in your system? You need to solve for 3 steps.
1️⃣ Capture. How do you capture your notes & highlights? Your main capture tool will be based around how you consume content. For many readers today, @AmazonKindle is the best capture tool as it lets you easily highlight books, add notes, and export these out of Kindle.

1/ I have a name for the function of pages (not blocks) in #RoamResearch. I call them the hunter/gatherers of the tool. This function is represented by three page "types". Want to know what they are? Keep reading #RoamCult...
2/ The page types help in understanding how process is implemented in Roam and can be used to strategically guide process development.
3/ The Collection/Insight Page. As per the name, this page "collects" and provides "insights".

This type of page has simple identifying metadata but no on-page content blocks. All blocks appear as linked/unlinked references.

#GToolkit now features a new component: #Lepiter.

Knowledge Management + Multilanguage Notebooks + Moldable Development.

Let's take a tour.

1/
Lepiter is made of snippets assembled in pages. Each snippet has its own language and comes with its own editor.

In its simplest form, it's a Markdown note taker with live markup that appears on demand and expandable links.

2/
When combined with a table of contents, pages can form a book.

Ok, #roamcult (where are we on the topic of name change?) - here's some thought on true aliases in #RoamResearch : I need them. Thanks for coming to my TED talk. For reals: True aliases are necessary to get #RoamResearch to where we need it to be for actual networked thought. 1/
Right now, there are just too many missing connections to really live up to the concept of "networked thought". Let me give you an example: I recently read an article and found the word "communities" to be relevant enough a concept to link it. 2/
So I added the link and opened it in the sidebar. To my surprise, it had only two links. Something was off. So I did some digging and what did I find? A [[community]] page with significantly more links. Shoot. 3/

This post by @fortelabs is 100% why I never managed to really "get" Evernote as others in the #productivity space seemed to. Nested tag systems make my brain hurt too. Nomological networks on the other hand? 🙋‍♀️YES. 1/10 fortelabs.co/blog/tagging-i…
If the concept of a "Nomological Net" is new to you, this is a decent primer: conjointly.com/kb/nomological…. As it was explained to me by my 2nd doctoral advisor, & how I've put the use of this concept into practice in my life, can be summed up by this statement: 2/10
I capture what & how I'm thinking about the topics that interest me on everything in life my Nomological Net. I use @NotionHQ to do this. I know many would argue for the use of #RoamResearch since it builds a net. However, similar to nested tag structures, 3/10

I'm tinkering with building software _around_ roam, to get some useful-to-me functionality.

Roam doesn't allow for embedding in other webpages, as a security feature. Is there a workaround that would let me do something like this?

#roamcult #roamresearch Image
It doesn't need to be web-based. Opening roam in a desktop app wrapper would also work for me.

the tools you use shape you, i didn't really get that until like this year, but i have a big problem with google chrome and i thiink its messing up my brain
google search bar + tabs makes it too easy to wander instantaneously and lose intention/awareness.

my brain wanders and chrome helps reinforce that behavior until it gets progressively worse at being intentional and directed
made a custom browser called Roam Garden (centered around #roamresearch not google) over the past couple days and it's tailor-made for intentional browsing that really pushes you to architect your browsing behaviors while at the same time helping you garden and make connections
