Following the lead of Utah and other states around the US, HB619 adds language to legalize conversion therapy for all LGBTQ people unless it is against their "clearly expressed will"— leaving such a definition extremely broad. The goal is to bring back legal conversion clinics.
Chase is one of the best advocates around trans youth. Kelly helps me think more deeply and critically, sharpens the self-reflection necessary for me to get clarity on my own person.

So much of this work (for me) was/is steeped in facing my own fear and ignorance, my blind spots and subconscious bias.
The self-reflection necessary to be able to show up effectively for communities you care about can be scary work.

Advocacy isn't about telling people you've got their back or you stand with them, especially if when the chips are down you won't (or can't).
Advocacy (for me) is about looking at myself and admitting that maybe most of my entire worldview is wrong.

I bet he didn't need a letter of approval from a therapist or psychologist for this gender affirming surgery.
This whole page is full of gender affirming (or masculinization) surgeries that likely don't require any pre-approvals by therapist or psychologist.
Since some folx don't seem to comprehend the comparison, having "a small(er) jawline & then utilizing plastic surgery as means of widening or squaring your jaw, is quite literally a gender affirming surgery. & one that likely doesn't require a therapist to validate your gender 1/

The curious thing about anti-queer eugenics is that they will never actually work; being queer is not heritable or contagious. Anti-queer eugenics attempts operate on the false belief that we can be eliminated.

These crusades never succeed at eliminating queer people (it’s not possible, we will always be born into every population); but they do succeed at driving us into hiding. For the perpetrators of these actions, that is often good enough.
They often argue that this is “proof” that they’ve eliminated the “evil influence” or that queer people chose to be queer all along.

Hey idk which cis “ally” needs to hear this, but it is literally never acceptable to out someone as trans without their consent.
Also outing someone as trans to “prove” how progressive you are, no matter who they are, is selfish and dangerous. It is not allyship in any capacity.
Also telling anyone a trans person’s deadname without their explicit consent, for any reason, is an act of transphobia. No exceptions.

Today is the sixth anniversary of Blake Brockington’s death by suicide. This forever-young (18 years old) Black trans man’s story is a testament to why we must support, encourage, and #ProtectTransYouth as they come into their identity.
Blake became an activist after being elected North Carolina’s first openly trans high school homecoming king a year before his death in 2015.
The publicity at that time took a huge toll on him, but he used his new platform to advocate for the LGBTQ community. He endured hate, particularly online, that made it, in his words, the “hardest part of his journey.”
