In 2020, #TangerMed in #Morocco (run by #Maersk) overtook #Piraeus as the largest container port in the #Mediterranean, and #Valencia got very close. The merger between #Antwerp and #Zeebrugge also adds to what is already a fierce competition between forwarders. 2/10

A boat with 49 people (incl 18 children) has been attacked twice by a speedboat with black-masked men near #Mitilini at the borderline between Skala Mistegnon and Panagiouda. Their engine was destroyed in the first attack and they now row with their bare hands.

According to the people on the boat, a Turkish vessel was on the scene but did not come closer and did not help them. They now reached Greek waters. The Greek coastguard is informed but does not react at all. This is the last location we received:

We continuously try to reach JRCC #Piraeus and the local coastguard in #Lesvos without success. We urge @HCoastGuard to rescue the people in distress without further delay!
