As we know, it takes courage to cut through the war frenzy and call for diplomacy and peace. Today, 30 members of Congress did that by signing a letter by @RepJayapal urging negotiations for #PeaceInUkraine!

We at CODEPINK appreciate the courage these signatories displayed in dissenting from the status quo. As a leading peace and anti-war organization, we also ask that all members of Congress, regardless of political party, vote against future weapons and military spending.
Despite President Biden’s recent acknowledgement that we've never been closer to nuclear Armageddon since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, he is refusing to meet with Putin and instead escalating. Leaders who urge the president to pursue diplomacy are essential!
I have been against the imposition of a no fly zone by NATO in Ukraine, believing that it would surely escalate the conflict. But Putin seems hell bent on escalation. So the question is becoming: does NATO fight him now or fight him later? #SlavaUkraini #NATO #NoFlyZone
But let’s not impose a No Fly Zone unless we are willing to back it up with ground troops, if necessary
He will likely respond with nuclear threats. But there is no fundamental reason why these are more useful to Putin than they are to NATO. Our logic has to be that his threats are meaningless. Whatever he can do to us, we can do to him.

I understand the political decision for making an application to the ICJ. This thread is in no way a judgment of that decision, which is very well founded in the terrible events of the last week especially.

That said, Ukraine has (sadly but realistically) an uphill battle both to obtain the #provisionalmeasures it seeks (link to request below) and in the eventual #preliminaryobjections.
