Heute jähren sich zum 84. Mal die #Novemberpogrome. Wir erinnern aus diesem Anlass an Käthe und Adolf Maass (hier auf ihrem Hochzeitsfoto von 1911), die am 1942 nach #Theresienstadt deportiert, von dort 1944 weiter nach #Auschwitz verschleppt und dort ermordert wurden. Ein🧵. 
Adolf Maass, geb. am 9.10.1875, war Kaufmann und Jurist. Nach seinem Abitur trat er als Lehrling in das Bremer Stammhaus der Spedition Kühne + Nagel ein. 1902 wurde er von Firmengründer August Kühne zum Aufbau einer neuen Niederlassung nach Hamburg entsandt.
Unter Maass’ Leitung wuchs die Hamburger Zweigstelle rasant. 1910 wurde er Teilhaber, 1928 wurde ihm ein Anteil von 45% am Unternehmen zugesprochen. Damit war er der größte Anteilseigner von Kühne + Nagel.
Auch in #Zschocher werden heute Stolpersteine geputzt. Der Lixer e.V. hat festgestellt, dass noch längst nicht an alle jüdischen Mitbürger:innen im Kiez erinnert wird. Deshalb wurden heute zusätzlich provisorische Stolpersteine im Kiez verlegt.(1/14) #niewieder #Novemberprogrome
In der #Klarastr. 21 lebte Beril Josef Moses, Inhaber eines Gold- und Juwelengroßhandels. Er wurde am 22.2.1885 in Czernowitz geboren und am 17.07.1941 nach Buchenwald deportiert. Dort wurde er vermutlich wenige Tage später, am 29.07.1941 ermordet.(2/14)

In the night of the November pogroms in 1938, their shop was attacked. The nephew of the owners - who is still alive - remembers his uncle trying to defend the shop after the windows had been broken. He was ten at the time.
Later, he was brought to London in a “Kindertransport”. The owners‘ family had to flee to the US after their property had been aryanised and they had been attacked.

I don't have a #Stolperstein in Ireland that I can clean today, but I can remember Expressionist poet and painter John Höxter, who has one on Hardenbergstraße 28a in #Berlin, in front of the new Romanisches Café. #KeinVerblassen
Born 1884 in Hannover, he went to Berlin to study arts but soon immersed himself fully in the café scene around Ku’damm. Höxter became a permanent fixture of the Romanisches Café and was friends Else Lasker-Schüler, Renee Sintenins and Erich Mühsam.
He painted and composed lyric, had affairs with men and women (among them actresses Spela Albrecht and Emmy Hennings), and soon developed a lasting morphine addiction. Leo von König painted Spela and John together in 1909 under the title ‘Boheme-Café’.
