1/ The gun lobby wants us to believe that regulating guns will reduce gun ownership and is an overreach by the state.

Let's look at cars. At first, there were no rules or regulations. They could be built any which way. And anyone could drive them.

Then came the awful rules...
2/ Drivers had to register their intent to drive - the first driver's licenses. Then, OMG, they had to pass tests to get the license, indicating they had to know some rules. And this license put them into govt DB!

Surely, this killed the car!

3/ Drivers tests became more and more strict, with higher and higher fees, and better, more interconnected govt DB.

Surely, this created an underground of unlicensed drivers? Protesting govt intrusion into their privacy and freedom to own property and free movement?
