In #NextGenerationSequencing news, $ILMN Illumina has some more details on the website for the NextSeq 1000/2000 kits, now including a 100 cycle kit for the P1 flowcells, and the 600 cycle kits for P1 and P2. Image
The interesting detail is that the P2 600 cycles kit gives 300M Reads CPF (Clusters passing filter), compared to the equivalent 300 cycle kit on the same flowcell (400M). So either the diameter of the wells is different, or about 100M Clusters are "lost" in the 600 cycle kit.
If the diameter of the wells is larger in the 600 cycle kit, this should allow for larger inserts, which would then benefit from being sequenced longer from both ends. This would make sense to me, but it requires manufacturing a different flowcell.

In #NextGenerationSequencing, @CompleteGenomic's new of the <$100/genome with their DNBSEQ T20 available from Q3 2023, and their T7x3 $130/genome pricing, we now have 3 companies that have hit the $200/genome mark with announcements: @ElemBio $ILMN Illumina and Complete Genomics.
Both $ILMN Illumina and @CompleteGenomic's will hit the $200/genome and <$100/genome mark in the second half of 2023, but @ElemBio Element Bio AVITIx3 and Complete Genomics T7x3 pricing models are *now* available at $200/genome and $130/genome respectively.
Also @UltimaGenomics is working on their U100 instrument aiming at $100/genome, and had several announcements of partnerships with library prep providers at #AGBT23.

In #JPM2023 news, $AKYA Akoya Biosciences presented with their #SpatialBiology solutions. Here the 3 instruments lined up from Discovery to Translational to Clinical segments.
Instrument numbers: 229 PhenoCyclers, 83 PhenoImager Fusions, and 551 PhenoImager HTs, Mantras & Vectras, as of September 30, 2022.
They see the 3 segment TAMs in the $3B, $4B and $7B range. I wonder if there are others leaning more on the clinical for their TAM predictions, rather than having earlier segments already accounting for so much.

In #JPM2023 news, $TWST Twist Biosciences also presented on Monday, and here are some highlights of their presentation: first slide is the obligatory comparison between Twist 1M oligos per chip technology compared to the plate-based methods.
Their #SynBio revenue is still growing, but proportionally less than the #NextGenerationSequencing segment and the #Biopharma segments.
They have a new factory which they expect to start shipping products in January 2023 (now!) and would mean doubling up their current capacity.

In #NextGenerationSequencing news, we look at the clinical uptake of different NGS technologies after the recent updates announced in the last few months:
NGS has been dominated by Illumina with their SBS short-reads technology, with reads of up to 2x150 base pairs available in most configurations, although 2x300 are also possible at a higher cost per Gb.
If we could roll back time in the last 15-20 years of NGS history, we would ideally have had a long-reads technology, or better yet, a length agnostic technology, be the dominant player, as most applications, both in Life Sciences Research and Clinical, would have benefited
