Can someone tell these people that removing universal mask use in healthcare will, with 100% certainty, lead to more outbreaks that will hurt patients' recovery, leave many with long-term disability and lead to many more unnecessary deaths?

🧵What’s the difference between XBB.1.5 and XBB.1.16 that gives XBB.1.16 an estimated 200% growth advantage over XBB.1.5?

A concerning trend that has been gaining momentum is mutations in the body of the virus instead of the spike.
Even though XBB.1.5 is already avoiding antibodies, the immune system is still alerted to the infection. The mutations in XBB.1.16 could make things worse by messing up the signal that tells the immune system there's an infection. 2/
It may be shutting off the alarm system so the body doesn’t know there is an intruder. This could result in fewer symptoms while it infects immune cells and weakens the immune system, leaving people more vulnerable to infection from other viruses and bacteria. 3/

COVID, Flu and RSV can remain infectious in the air for hours, so we must remain aware of this. The highest risk is when people face each other, but also when people follow each other single file or after an infected person left a poorly ventilated room.

"Individuals who are infected with COVID have many fewer T-cells,” said Katzenback who studies viruses.

“That’s a problem for us because T-cells are a really important part of our immune system that helps defend us against infection.” 2/
"Studies show COVID kills off a significant number of the body’s T-cells, so even when a someone recovers from COVID, they are at a heightened risk for other viral, bacterial & fungal infections."
