A statue of Songtsen Gampo in his traditional meditation cave at #Yerpa 
Yerpa (also known as , Drak Yerpa, Druk Yerpa, Dagyeba, Dayerpa and Trayerpa) is a monastery and a number of ancient #meditation caves that used to house many monks, located a short drive to the east of Lhasa, #Tibet
There were some 200 monks living at #Yerpa from at least the beginning of the 19th century until 1959. It also acted as a summer residence for the Gyuto Lhasa Tantric College.

@HarounRashid2 Benedict's rule for beginners put all of the members irrespective of age, wealth, and prominence on the same footing. The rank in a cross-generational community, from youths to men of advanced years, who go on living together year after year was governed by a chosen #abbot.
The celebration continues 2 or 3 days. The celebration includes religious ceremonies & mask dances performed by the monks in #Tibet.

Dra Yerpa hermitage, about 16km northeast of #Lhasa, is one of the holiest cave retreats. Among the many ascetics who have sojourned here are Guru Rinpoche & Atisha, the Bengali Buddhist who spent 12 years proselytizing in #Tibet.

Songtsen Gampo also meditated in a cave, after his #Tibetan wife established the first of Yerpa’s chapels. The peaceful site offers lovely views and is a great day trip from #Lhasa.

After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly feels the bump of another boat colliding with his own

With his eyes still closed, he senses his anger rising & by the time he opens his eyes, he is ready to scream at the boatman who dared disturb his meditation.But when he opens his eyes,he sees it’s an empty boat that had probably got untethered & floated to the middle of the lake
