#Illinois Senate Bill SB1887 would drive out #blockchain #node operators, #miners, and #validators, waste judicial resources, and confuse existing law in a quixotic attempt to protect Illinois consumers. Let's examine the mess in a #thread:
as a preface, This is a stunning reverse course for a state that was previously pro -innovation. Instead we now get possibly the most unworkable state law related to #crypto and #blockchain I’ve ever seen. A shocking turn of events for the #tech community in #illinois /2
SB1887 focuses on consumer protection (this is GOOD). But, the manner in which it seeks to protect consumers is to require #node operators ##miners & #validators to do impossible things, or things that create for themselves new criminal & civil liability at pain of fines/ fees /3

10 Bitcoin #Mining Predictions for 2023

It's been a wild ride for #Bitcoin in the past year, but it looks like things could be settling down for public #miners.

Here are 10 Bitcoin mining predictions for 2023, according to @hashrateindex 👇
1. The bitcoin bear market will come to an end

The future of #Bitcoin mining is heavily influenced by the price of Bitcoin. Arcane Research's 2022 year-end report shows that the current bear market is similar in length to 2014-15 and 2018, with a peak-to-through drawdown of 78%.
2. Bitcoin’s hashrate growth will slow down

Hashrate growth in 2022 was fueled by miners expanding during the 2021 bull market. However, the poor mining economics of 2022 will likely lead to a slowdown in hashrate growth in 2023.

#Bitcoin ON-CHAIN ANALYSIS

Preface, I am not an on-chain analyst I have no interest in going to view rainbows or data that is useless to me.

I want to Focus in going to 360 degree look at what is going on and will be happy to read any thoughts below.

This Thread will be very long and divided into 12 parts,
For each part there will be a brief explanation of the chart we are looking at and my separate observation if needed.

Gas fees are an efficient way to encourage #miners to continue confirming transactions and maintaining network security.

They are still the most despised component of #Ethereum for every user. 💸🔒
(3/10) People despise gas taxes not simply because they dislike taxes in general but also because they can be exorbitantly expensive if the #network is overburdened. 💱💲

One huge macro driver for higher sustained #inflation and much higher #commodity prices is that prices will surely have to rise to make it profitable for both Europe and North America to actually return to mining and general self sufficiency.
Emerging market / 3rd world commodity (mining) production accounts of a huge percentages of production of many key minerals. Add in China and Russia’s production and then look at who’s producing and who’s consuming and you’ll see that change is surely coming
Key countries like Chile, Brazil, Peru in South America as well as many parts of the African continent have their mining work suffering greatly from inflation. The worlds mining giants have taken advantage of low cost workers and weak environmental standards for many decades

What in the damn world is this conglomerate that is happening called @HydroWhalesClub? #Hydrowhales is constantly adding more and more #value with real #nftutility. Let's cover some things real quick so you can #DYOR and see why this #opportunity is like none other.

What is Proof of Work (PoW)?

Our last thread introduced the topic of #consensus mechanisms which determine how #data is added to the #blockchain

In this 🧵 we look at consensus mechanisms that use Proof of Work:
1/ A group of owls is called a Parliament.

And just as there are different ways to participate in a democracy (eg voting in a referendum vs electing a representative to decide on your behalf) - there are also different ways of participating in decision making on a #blockchain
2/ The first #blockchain developed for #bitcoin by Satoshi Nakamoto uses Nakamoto #consensus

POS is superior than POW. A long thread 🧵.
Remember: Here I am saying that #POS is superior to #POW, not that all POS #blockchains are good, there are always bad-built blockchains, both in POW & POS.
1.1) POW with many #miners requires a lot of #energy & #pollutes (without renevables), this is a waste of energy, not because the provided service is not of high level, but because we have alternatives (POS). The generated heat could be dangerous too for our environment.
1.2) On the contrary a POS blockchain uses only a fraction of a POW blockchain energy to work. A POS blockchain could be also carbon neutral or carbon negative as #elrond.

Silver (1/4)

The top portion shows silver/nasdaq ratio.
The middle portion shows the gold/silver ratio.
The bottom portion shows the silver price.

Here we have two ratios, which both appear to be about to breakout higher and lower respectfully. See what happens when they do. Image
Silver (2/4)
When this happens, it is usually followed by a long rally in the silver price and a rotation into precious metals occurs.

Another ratio which appears to be signalling a bottom in the silver price is Silver/M2 money supply near all time lows. Image

The GDX which comprises of gold and silver miners, appears to be trapped in an upward trend channel.

🔔What are NIPoPoWs?

This thread is intended to describe and simplify one particular innovation on the #Ergo #blockchain: NIPoPoWs.

#NiPoPoW stands for Non-Interactive Proof of Proof of Work. Let’s break this down one piece at a time.

1/15
PoW sitting at the end of #NIPoPoW signifies that this concept is grounded in a proof of work consensus mechanism

Ergo relies on #miners to solve cryptographic puzzles that give them the right to verify transactions and add blocks to the #blockchain

2/15
Po in the center of NIPoPoW stands for Proof of.

Having proof of proof of work means using cryptography to abstract away from the blockchain in a mathematically verifiable way.

In other words, PoPoW is a lightweight, yet provably accurate, representation of the blockchain

#lithium carbonate breaks $510k yuan/ton which is $80k USD - almost a $10k increase in the last fortnight. A small thread on why this matters below for #electricvehicles and #lithium #mining stocks. Happy punting all.
#Spot #lithium traded as above is usually representative of tiny volumes at different districts in China. Could probably spend a whole thread describing lithium prices in different areas but that'd be a waste of time. Take away point is the volume is tiny but it's a trend.
The head price you see here is representative of what traders/chemical producers are getting for product sold typically to #cathode #producers who use the chemicals to create lithium batteries.

1/ We’re excited to announce the release of @kadena_io’s Chainweb-Mining-Client.

This software allows #miners to mine to their own nodes, without going through a pool and paying the associated pool fees, mitigating centralization within pool servers. Image
2/ A longstanding “POW isn’t decentralized” argument is the need for centralized pools to mine efficiently.

With Chainweb-Mining-Client, Kadena could be the first pool-less protocol. No validator nodes (#POS), no pool servers (#POW), just pure mining and full nodes.
3/ Traditionally pools were there to give miners more frequent payouts. But because Kadena has a much higher block rate, we’ve found that mining solo can actually yield similar/better results.

Bitcoin Maxi's like @michael_saylor, @APompliano often refer to other asset classes to compare %.

I understand, and it's important as 99% of the people are building wealth = speculating.

They want to get rich. It's not about staying rich.
I am here to explain my strategy.

1.
Over the last 13 years, i have specialised in #preciousmetals

Most still seem to grasp that focus = delivers.
Off course, sometimes there are long periods of no gains, but also no losses.

The time to win huge is once again there, with the weekly breakout on #gold.

2.
Bitcoin maxi's always compare yields to #Gold

Which is plain BS (distraction) as using the right junior #miners, a small % in gold can deliver spectacular returns in miners.

Speculating in crypto equals speculating in miners.

Gold itself has nothing to do with that.

@RaoulGMI Good Morning! You asked what is happening to #Gold and #Silver. This is my take - a summary of the governing Thesis on TheZebergReport.com for a long time! Hope you can use the input! 🙋‍♂️🙂
Since ~2000 we have been in Kondratiev's Winter. A period where GLOBAL DEBT causes low and falling growth rates. Central banks try to counter this by printing money (Monetary Stimulus). However, Deflationary forces from debt causes deflations to unfold - despite extreme measures
To the frustration of Central Banks, they cannot create inflation despite extreme money printing. They stimulate by infusing money into the system but cannot make the money circulate. Velocity drops dramatically. What they miss...You cannot solve a solvency problem with Liquidity

Here is an abridged overview of where the #uranium market is:

- The uranium #market is burning through excess uranium supply, mostly coming from the spot market. Within the next 2.5 years, it is highly likely demand for uranium will outstrip #supply. To secure supply,
utilities need to contract uranium at higher prices than the current price.

- Most uranium #miners have placed their mines on care and maintenance ( $PDN, $CCO, etc...). Current capacity, mostly coming from the largest four uranium #producers, will not be enough to cover
future demand requirements. Thus, utilities will search for supply from smaller producers.

- On the #demand side, the East is building #nuclear reactors at an increasing rate. #Japan is restarting shutdown reactors from the #Fukushima Daiichi disaster. Parts of the

(1) So let me try to write something down on #options, more specifically #LEAPs (Long-term options).

Options?

Options give you the 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 to buy (call) or sell (put) an underlying asset (= stock/ETF) at a fixed price (= strike price) up to a spec. date (= exp. date).
(2) Premium.

Ofc. options aren't free. You'll have to pay a premium for this right. Important to keep in mind is the multiplier, which often equals to 100 (every option covers 100 of the underlying shares).

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘂𝗺 * 𝟭𝟬𝟬 (+ 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀)
(3) Pricing
Options pricing is determined by the four greeks (separate thread in the future). Important to take into account is that options will be more expensive if:
1. Your expiration date if further out (#theta).
2. The closer the strike price lies near the asset (#delta)
