Here is my quick learning:-
1) KF has fully backward integrated operations ranging from iron ore mines to machined castings as well has a very strong client base across the globe. ISMT is one of the most diversified manufacturers of specialized seamless tubes in the world.
2) Apart from the regular synergy like economies of scale & cost optimization, the merger will help in expanding reach, cross selling opportunities and better combined unit economics and financial ratios.

1. I carried out this study after my internship at a Sub Saharan Africa-focused Private Equity firm with exposure to Zimbabwe. The key objective was to understand what the exit environment looked like for the firms' investments but also for the broader investor community.
2. All of the primary data in this study was sourced from the Competition and Tariff Commission, through various reports from 2009 to 2021.
The Commission has a mandate to promote and maintain competition in the economy of Zimbabwe. It is also in charge of merger control.

The extant literature measures #concentration using #industry classifications. Data are mostly aggregated at the national/regional level for all products. Yet, both the #geographic and the #product market definitions should be based on the #substitutability among products. 2/N
