Next week we are getting the #Science on @camp_curiosity with a whole week of #outdoorscience for @ScienceWeekUK. On Monday we will be mashing together @WhiteRoseEd #maths & gross #science with a little help from @OperationOuch with Yr2/3 @DodlestonCofE . It’s compass #science
in the afternoon with Yr4/5 followed by some fire lighting #science & toasted marshmallows. Im keeping my 🤞🏼 for no rain Tuesday @KelsallSchool as we make some yummy edible #science with #EYFS before #exploding #science with after school club. Wednesday we will be exploring
#senses , creating life size bodies & making some 💩 with Yr1 @wolverhamhead. Thursday is a @camp_curiosity #popup @larkhillprimary with the whole school taking part in the #science of 🔥 to #igniteyourspark and to round off the week, Friday is a #science theme session

Έχουμε καθορίσει ως τώρα τι είναι, γενικά κι αόριστα, μία καμπύλη στο Καρτεσιανό Επίπεδο. Ωστόσο, εμάς δε μας νοιάζουν οι καμπύλες γενικά, αλλά πιο πεζά πράγματα όπως οι κύκλοι και τα τετράγωνα. Πώς, άραγε, περιγράφονται αυτά;

2/ Αφού μας απασχολεί ο τετραγωνισμός του κύκλου, ας ξεκινήσουμε με τους κύκλους στο Καρτεσιανό Επίπεδο. Όπως είπαμε, μία καμπύλη περιγράφεται ως ένα σύνολο σημείων της μορφής {(x,y): f(x,y)=0}. Ποια όμως είναι η κατάλληλη συνάρτηση f που μπορεί να περιγράψει έναν κύκλο;
3/ Ας σκεφτούμε λίγο ποια είναι η πλέον χαρακτηριστική ιδιότητα των σημείων ενός κύκλου: ισαπέχουν από το κέντρο του κύκλου. Πράγματι, αν γνωρίζουμε το κέντρο Κ(α,β) ενός κύκλου και την ακτίνα του (ρ), τότε μπορούμε να αποφανθούμε για κάθε σημείο Μ αν ανήκει ή όχι στον κύκλο.

2/ Το πρόβλημα συνίσταται στο να πάρουμε έναν ωραίο κύκλο και να κατασκευάσουμε χρησιμοποιώντας κανόνα (μία ίσια βέργα, δηλαδή) και διαβήτη ένα τετράγωνο με εμβαδό όσο ακριβώς και ο κύκλος. Εύκολο, με μία πρώτη ανάγνωση, θα πει κανείς. Ωστόσο...
3/ ...αιώνες ενασχόλησης με τα μαθηματικά απέδειξαν ότι δεν είναι και τόσο εύκολο, τελικά. Για την ακρίβεια, δεν είναι απλά δύσκολο, αλλά *αδύνατο* να γίνει μία τέτοια κατασκευή. Ας δούμε, όμως, βήμα-βήμα, που βρίσκεται όλη αυτή η δυσκολία.

In my opinion, the techniques used to model PE transactions have a lot in common with those that are applied to Listed Equity.
It has some maths in it, but nothing out of the world!

Passion project time! I love the HP-45 #calculator. It's beautiful on the outside, but I wanted to show people that it's beautiful on the inside, too. So, as a #coding & #retrocomputing challenge I wrote a simulator, & I'm now making it available to all. (Retweets welcomed.) 1/7
The simulator was designed for the Z80-MBC2, a computer designed by @Just4Fun_J4Fun with a #Z80 processor running CP/M. (If you like #retrocomputing, do try it.) But after some tedious wrangling, I was able to write code which also compiled for Windows, Linux & MacOS. 2/7
I like the sense of retro-tech and (unfulfilled) futures which the terminal application provides: it's a #hauntological calculator. It's also flexible: you can change what's shown on the display &, for slower machines (say, an 8MHz Z80), you can run in minimal mode for speed. 3/7
