Update 11/8: I think it is safe to say that what we're doing in #Utah isn't working to slow the #covid #pandemic. We saw 2,300 more cases today. Sunday is a slower day for new cases and Thursdays are typically 70% greater = ~4000 cases this Thursday. Charts to follow:
#COVID19 cases by age range/100K population shows 15-24 have the highest rate and 85+ experiencing an worrisome increase. #UTPOL @UtahCoronavirus @UtahDepOfHealth
Positive cases/100 tests is now above 20%. That's 1/5 tests completed have a positive result. #wearamask #physicaldistance #WashYourHands @DrAngelaCDunn

“Election Year Stewart" is trying to rewrite his record, to distract & appear more moderate than he has demonstrated himself to be -- in his own words & through his voting record. Let’s look at some recent issues... #utpol
The Chris Stewart Political Rap Sheet

COVID: Chris Stewart underplayed the risk, big time, & is now trying to avoid the topic entirely. Tens of thousands of Americans have died & many, many Utahns. For a long time, he couldn’t even be bothered to wear a mask. #MaskUpUtah
SUICIDE HOTLINE: Chris Stewart has voted repeatedly to defund & undercut the Affordable Care Act -- historic & popular legislation that has done more for Utahns' & Americans' mental health coverage than any other single piece of legislation. #MentalHealthMatters

A few thoughts about running a research lab in the time of COVID. Who are we? A lab of 7 scientists working on how muscle develops and regenerates. Our @NIH-funded work involves daily lab work and experiments that last weeks. To keep operating, we need to be in the lab. 1/12
After a multi-month shutdown, we returned to lab. We always wear masks and gloves and work in isolation whenever possible (different rooms, times). Between experiments, we retreat to small 1-person offices. All meetings are via Zoom (even when we are in adjacent rooms!) 2/12
Many days we eat lunch outside together separated by 6-10 ft. A risk, but talking together keeps us (me!) sane. 3/12

Nope nope nope, a thread. 😡

This petition to make masks "optional" in K-12 schools is is a gut-punch to my family. My wife teaches elementary school music and this may be the most painful indignity she has faced in 13 years of teaching.

She is a dedicated educator, takes her job seriously, & sacrifices for her students despite regular disrespect from parents, administrators, and even fellow-teachers, low pay, & general disregard from a general public that demands much of teachers, but rewards them little.

2/
Last Spring she & thousands of other educators in Utah & elsewhere shouldered the herculean task of reinventing curriculum on the spot for online delivery when schools closed due to COVID-19. Lots of extra work, no extra pay.

Officials from Utah’s major hospitals are about to begin a news conference to discuss the Covid situation and outlook. . #utpol
First, @MarkBriesacher from @Intermountain says they are getting close to a capacity of patients they have not seen. “We’re deeply concerned about the trajectory of COVID-19.” Near-record number of positive tests yesterday, new state record possible today. #utpol
Briesacher: Currently managing, have plans in place for surge capacity, but don’t want to get there. “Beds don’t take care of people.” There is a limited number of doctors and nurses.

Encouraged Gov required masks for students, feels strongly that everyone deserves same. #utpol

I’ve heard so many people talk about their rights being infringed upon due to being asked to wear a mask. Your “so called” infringements on your rights by being asked to do this and disregarding it has caused Utah to have a 1/
spike in cases. It has created a situation where I and many others like myself can’t go into public places or even hang out with all of our family members.
You think this is about freedom, when in reality it is only about 2/
saving lives, thinking about others and looking outside of yourself. The frustration and sadness I have is more than I think I’ve ever had to deal with. Putting trust in others to help protect my health and seeing them 3/
