Every year on 9/11 our nation pauses to remember those who lost their lives in the horrific terror attacks that took place 19 years ago today. Many of us can think back to that morning of #September11, 2001 & remember exactly where we were when the attacks occurred.

Over the past 19 years our nation has collectively experienced and expressed a gamut of emotions including: grief, honor, fear, outrage, borderline panic, remembrance, #NeverForget and #DemandJustice.

As a citizen of the United States of America and the son of a military veteran, I honor and remember those who lost their lives due to terror 19 years ago today.

The primary reason my campaign for #AllThePeople struggles to be seen as viable is because most Americans, including women and POC, believe the lie that only a white land-owning male from the one percent can help them. What else do you think #MAGA & #VoteBlueNoMatterWho means.
My first 100 Days plan is to remove the racism, sexism and white supremacy from the US Constitution. I have a plan to abolish slavery and honor treaties. Neither @JoeBiden nor @realDonaldTrump even come close to addressing our foundational level problems like my campaign does.
The speakers at both of their conventions droned on & on about how Joe is going to "restore the soul of America" & Donald is going to Make America Great Again (again). But neither have a clue what to do about the systemic racism, sexism & white supremacy that plagues our nation.

Do you want to abolish slavery in the United States?

If your answer is yes, then you have only one option this November.

President Trump's primarily concern with mail in ballots is not voter fraud, it's that more people will vote.
#MarkCharles2020 #AllThePeople
And the Democrats primary concern with #ThirdParty and #Independent candidates, is that with more (and better) options, less people will vote for #JoeBiden.
Our nation's simplistic two party system exists because white, land-owning men are terrified of actual democracy.

Why am I still running for POTUS?
B/c in the midst of the greatest financial, health & racial crises in generations, our nation's simplistic 2 party system is offering 2 white, land-owning men from the 1 percent as the only options for a solution. And I don't believe that's true. Image
I am a dual citizen of the USA and the Navajo Nation. I announced my independent campaign 12 months ago and my vision is to build a nation where We the People truly means #AllThePeople.

As a person of color with a strong critique of our nation's foundations, I decided to run as an independent precisely so my campaign could remain viable even after the GOP and DEMS removed all POC from their pools of candidates.

What I find most discouraging re: the white gun toting protesters in Michigan is not that it happened (that's expected), nor that the left politically condemned it & the right silently condoned it (both expected), or even that Pres. Trump vocally supported it (again expected)...
What I find most discouraging is that within a week or two, main stream media and most of white America will have forgotten about it, leaving only people of color to remember this vivid modern day example of yet another blatant double standard.

The Second Amendment is dripping with white supremacy & implicit racial bias. It was written to arm white men to terrorize black people and create militias that were used throughout US history to ethnically cleanse Native people.

As President I will work to relate with the Native Nations and tribes of Turtle Island not as domestic dependents but as Indigenous hosts; a people whose voice, wisdom, experience and welfare are vital to the United States of America.

This is just one of the many reasons why the above statement in this thread is necessary at this time:

The fact that #DEMS, both in 2016 & in 2020, counter president Trump's divisive rhetoric of #MAGA by insisting to the American public that they (DEMS) can make the US "truly great" is evidence they don't understand much about the dangers of the myth of American Exceptionalism.
American Exceptionalism is the coping mechanism for a nation in deep denial of its genocidal past as well as it's current racist & sexist reality. We need to stop talking about our mythological greatness & instead focus on creating a #CommonMemory.

Walking into a more inclusive future starts by acknowledging our divisive past.
Prison Reform begins with abolishing slavery.
Healthcare for all starts by removing racism & sexism from US Constitution.
Addressing economic inequality begins by decentering white, land-owning men.

While the "car" is broken down and the hood is being opened up on our economy and society, it would be a good time, while continuing to aggressively address the current crisis, to also begin discussing some long needed & necessary systemic changes.

This entire week I have been posting live streams on my campaign YouTube channel addressing specific demographics about my campaign for #AllThePeople.
Yesterday (Thursday) I spoke to older and moderate Black and Native voters about my campaign for #AllThePeople that is seeking many of the same changes they were also fighting for 60 years ago.

Ya'at'eeh my relatives. On Tuesday Joe Biden won three more state primaries including Florida. His lead over Senator Sanders is being labeled by some as "insurmountable". And many are calling for Bernie to bow out of the race.

I receive messages daily from Bernie Sanders supporters telling me that if/when their candidates is out of the Democratic Primary, they will vote for me (#MarkCharles2020). Senator Sanders is working towards systemic change, as am I.

One of the primary differences between us is our understanding of the root of the problem. Sen. Sanders argues that the root is economic while I argue that the root is racial. It is this difference that has made it difficult for him to gain traction with communities of color.

Earlier this week the 10th #DemDebate was held in Charleston, SC, the traditional lands of the Kusso, whose descendants are the Edisto Natchez-Kusso Tribe. The 7 candidates on the debate stage were all white and, as usual, not a single one gave a land acknowledgement.

Ya'at'eeh my relatives. Today is #PresidentsDay and one of the Presidents our nation loves to honor is Abraham Lincoln. He is the president who freed the slaves and whose legacy is forever tied to the amendment that abolished slavery...

But the 13th Amendment includes a clause that keeps slavery legal in prison. Also the hanging of the Dakota 38, the Massacre at Sand Creek and the Long Walk all took place between 1862 and 1865, under the Lincoln administration.

Mass incarceration of people of color is a systemic problem rooted in our Constitution. It is a problem that cannot be solved until we remove the clause from the thirteenth amendment and decide as a nation that we truly want to abolish slavery.
