Attempting to create more accessible work. Not perfect.. but what follows is a summary 🧵of a paper my supervisors and I wrote about the way peer workers are implicated in particular problems constructed through Aust mental health policy. 
We recognize and value the work of activists that has contributed to peer work being included in MH policy. Whilst not wanting to undermine this work, we attend to some of the limits of current inclusionary practices
Our approach is informed by Carol Bacchi’s work on problem representation and politically informed by #Madstudies. Bacchi’s work can be found here: carolbacchi.com

2/25 Meds. Love them or loathe them, they are a daily reality for many of us. Big Pharma makes a lot off us Mentals. Did you know that my most debilitating diagnosis can’t be medicated? But all the others equate to 13 tablets a day, plus any extras on PRN #WorldMentalHealthDay
3/25 I’ve never, ever, ever been able to maintain taking meds regularly. But I do now. The Hubster wakes me up with a coffee, toast and meds. But having a caring, loving person in my helps me more than any meds. Sadly not available on prescription for us all #WorldMentalHealthDay
My "#Education & #MentalHealth" grad course has made me realize that Princess Elsa was forced to suppress her powers to create ice and snow so she could be "normal." She was later labelled a monster, which is discrimination against people with "disabilities." ❄️👸 #ableism
The real villains are her parents. who should've encouraged her so she could embrace her powers and be confident of herself. #madstudies #disabilitystudies

We also can't forget the kingdom and the systems that convinced her parents to fall for such discrimination. Geez Arendelle...🏰
