EU 'Comprehensive CDR' approach is mainly based on numbers calculated by Peters/Geden 2017 (rdcu.be/bajez) and @nemvaughan et al. 2018 (iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…), on the order of 50+ Gt of gross CO2 removal by 2100 for EU

EP resolution was drafted before release of #IPCC #SR15, and online version of yesterday's decision still provisional. If it stands as it is, then MEPs got something wrong abt the scientific basis. IPCC SR15 says net zero CO2 needs to be reached by 2050, not GHGs #lowcarboneu2050
Chapter 2 of #IPCC #SR15 states that net zero GHG for 1.5C would need to be reached 2060-2080 (it's usually 10-15 yrs after net zero CO2)
For 2C, net zero GHG need to be reached only by the end of 21st century
