Dada la actualidad y la alarma que está generando, vamos con un hilo sobre la bacteria de moda, Listeria Monocytogenes. #Listeria #LaMechá
Comenzamos con una curiosidad. Y es que, como algunos ya sospecharéis, las bacterias del género Listeria tienen este nombre en honor a Joseph Lister, considerado uno de los padres de la microbiología y precursor de la antisepsia. ¿Sabéis qué otra cosa le debe su nombre?
El descubrimiento de estas bacterias se remonta a 1926, 14 años tras la muerte de Lister, tras ser aisladas por diversos grupos de investigadores en varias especies de roedores que presentaban monocitosis (de ahí el apellido de la bacteria que nos ocupa).
