#Taliban Minister of Higher Education on his supposed official page posts his sermon blaming King Amanullah Khan and Zahir Shah for bringing the western formula of sending #girls to #schools. This was a prescription for promiscuity within #Afghanistan 1/
He says religious scholars stood up against them stating that this was in contradiction with #Islam, Afghan culture and our national honour. This is the mindset of the ministers while we call for #LetAfghanGirlsLearn. We truly are fighting an uphill battle 2/
It is also extremely disheartening to note that this Minister is not just a common Talib but one that is a Sheikh ul Hadith. If the scholars of the government think women should not leave their houses then how can the movement ever steer itself in a more sensible direction? 3/

This International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, please stand by Afghan women, by supporting @YaldaHakimFund @LEARNAfg @ASEELApp #LetAfghanGirlsLearn.

And the brave women of Iran by supporting #WomenLifeFreedom @AlinejadMasih @NazaninBoniadi
"As the world clichés their way through the rights of women this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, please remember the Afghan women confined to the dark chambers of their homes - restrained and banned from education, the outdoors, parks, and life."
"Remember today's brave women of Iran fighting for their fundamental rights to choice, freedom, and life, with the hashtag #WomenLifeFreedom. Time will pass. Peace and equality for all too, will come with the efforts of untamable women. But history will not forget the culprits."

“I wanted to become president of my country, not for position, wealth, or fame but to build my country and make Kabul as beautiful as Paris. But now I can’t even go to school.”
She added:

“Maybe you think somehow Afghan girls can live without dreams but among us are girls who want to be doctors, engineers, an astronaut ...

and for the last 20 years that your soldiers were here in our country you have encouraged us to think that we could be.”
“We are crying every day. But we still have phones and we read about England’s Lionesses on the football field and how proud you were. We had girls’ football teams too, you even sent people here to teach us, but now that is all gone, we could get in trouble even for watching it.”

"Education was about hope for the future - especially for us girls."

In the light of #WorldRefugeeDay, Arezo Kohistany, co-founder and director of Yalda Hakim Foundation shares what it means to be denied, fight for, and protect the right to education for girls in Afghanistan.
"Through new partnerships and a new organization called the Afghan Future Fund, we’ve grown our programming. We are working to provide scholarships and placements for 250 or more Afghan students evacuated to third countries."
"YHF’s current program is expected to support 40,000 students across 19 Afghan provinces. We hope to do more, including coupling food and healthcare delivery with education so that families can be further incentivized to permit their girls to learn." #LetAfghanGirlsLearn
