Il 27 agosto di 138 anni fa avveniva una delle eruzioni vulcaniche più potenti e distruttive della storia dell'umanità. Stiamo parlando della terribile eruzione del vulcano #Krakatoa, uno stratovulcano nato all'interno di una caldera vulcanica in Indonesia.
L'eruzione del 1883 era iniziata nel corso del mese di maggio con delle sporadiche ma intense esplosioni che si sono susseguite per interi mesi, un fenomeno che aveva stupito e affascinato moltissimi marinai locali.
Questa serie di esplosioni, secondo i racconti dell'epoca, generava delle colonne eruttive che raggiungevano anche i 9-10 km di altitudine, tanto da provocare una ricaduta di materiale vulcanico piuttosto intensa in tutta l'isola di Krakatoa (ovviamente disabitata).

Ok, a estas alturas todos escucharon que el #Krakatoa está haciendo erupción en Indonesia. Eso es verdad. Pero es una mentira grosera eso de que se va a reactivar el cinturón de fuego del pacífico. Les dejo acá un breve hilo con datos de la causa, para que estén más tranquilos
El #Krakatoa está en erupción, junto al Merapi, al Agung, y al Sinabung, en Indonesia. No pasa todos los días, pero ocurre que los 4 volcanes vienen haciendo ruido hace rato. No es nada del otro mundo. No se asusten. Acá en Chile nos ha pasado algo parecido algunas veces.
El video de la erupción del #Krakatoa, donde se ve un cono hermoso con un gran pulso incandescente, no es de ahora. Es de antes del colapso que tuvo en Diciembre del 2018. Lo que muestra que ese volcán está muy activo, y va a seguir estándolo.

The eruption threw debris up to 100 km high, caused tsunamis that killed thousands of people and were even perceived in the English Channel. The phenomenon altered the climate of the planet, stirred with light, air and even the colors of the sunset in various places of the world.
