I believed relocating from Nigeria would truncate my destiny as i felt all people do abroad was just pick shifts and pack sh*t - i wanted to be more, i wanted a life of purpose and impact, i wanted to leave a mark and touch lives as many possible
I was building myself a career path and easily morphing into many aspects of my ingenuity just to find balance and of-course, financial sustainability. i had fairly built a name for myself in the event’s industry especially in Pageantry which would enable me author this book 👇🏽
We were here 30 years ago. It was the 1993 political crisis & I remember my father then a secondary school principal, faced with the options of either to #japa & get a life or #sink with the ship called 9ja.
He chose the first, took the academic route first to Germany and then to the USA where he still lives.
To everyone who left Africa in August / September to start a new life in another part of the world, well done but this is just the beginning of the journey. From someone who #Japa in 2008, here are some of my words to you:
✅ Get your regularization papers asap - health card

identity card, social security card, school ID card, driver’s license, open a bank account, deposit all of your money and get a bank card
✅ You need both the people from your continents (Africans abroad) and the locals of your new country. So, start building those

✅ Join a religious organization. Churches usually will have food drive, free winter jackets and in some cases provide shelter or other support that you may need. So, find a church ASAP

I've been following #Japa and I think I should loan my voice to the conversation. I wish those in the UK "Japa boat" well as they start their course next week. I also hope many have given a thought to #Japa the student Visa route gives you limited time to live in the UK #Thread
as a matter of fact, 1yr Master's + 2yrs graduate Visa does not count toward settlement in the UK. So stay humble and focused to achieve whatever your goal is for leaving our beloved in Nigeria at this time. I have a thing or two to share for those who are willing to learn...

Quick one to those resuming in September 2022 and January 2023. Canadian schools give out BURSURIES to international studies. This is something a lot of people don't know or probably ignore. As an international student, you may be eligible for bursary of about $1000 to $2000
depending on the school. Feel free to reach out to your school for more information or check your school website, it's free money.

As for me, I made it count and had a 4.76 bachelors and a 5.0 Masters all from #FUTO. I am now global!!!
