Chairman Bennie Thompson appears via video because he recently tested positive for COVID. He says he will appear via video in today’s hearing in accordance with CDC guidelines and has authorized the Vice Chair Liz Cheney to gavel the committee in and out and swear in witnesses.
Thompson recaps what the committee has shown in the first 7 hearings: Trump lost the 2020 election. He knew he had lost the election. Yet he not only refused to concede, he pushed his Big Lie about a stolen election and commanded a mob he knew was heavily armed to the Capitol.

Chairman Thompson outlines the evidence presented in the first three hearings. He draws a direct parallel between Trump’s amplification of the Big Lie and the recent election in New Mexico in which officials refused to certify the results based on vague unconfirmed fraud claims.
He says that todays hearing will focus on Trump’s pressure campaign on local election officials to overturn the will of the voters based on false allegations of fraud, and that he threatened the livelihoods and lives of these individuals if they refused to comply with his demands
Mark Meadows offered to send Autographed MAGA hats to Georgia election workers before Election Day. Offering gifts in exchange for votes/favors is called bribery. It’s also a violation of Georgia state laws to offer food/water to voters in line — I’d say this is much, much worse.

#BenGinsberg successfully argued that it doesn't matter how the people of Florida voted, the Florida legislature has decided that the real electors are the Bush Republican elector slate.
You can't say just because someone challenges Trump, that they are moral and correct. #BenGinsberg is really dangerous. He's actually said that legislatures not voters determine the slate of electors. That's an opening for Trump 2024.
