... for allegedly inserting names of three ghost workers into the payroll of the Medical Centre.

Also arraigned before the trial judge were the Head of Internal Audit, Awesu M. Bababida, and one Ihuoma Mirian, a staff of the Centre.
The trio colluded to use the ghost workers’ names and syphoned monies to the tune of N17.5 million into personal use, knowingly very well that the three names never existed.

The Policy was approved for the good and ethical conduct of the Nigerian citizenry.
The Policy, according to ICPC Chairman, Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, is “a befitting follow-up to the National Values Curriculum initiative”, adding that, “the policy coming at ICPC’s 20th Anniversary and Nigeria’s 60th year of nationhood is timely”.

ICPC quizzes NDDC Directors, other Officials

ICPC has quizzed top management staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), over allegations of various acts of corruption such as diversion of funds, procurement fraud and misappropriation of the agency’s Covid-19 funds.
Some directors of NDDC were interrogated at the Commission’s headquarters recently, after months of intelligence gathering, following the receipt of petitions from Nigerians on the alleged illegalities and contracts fraud by some officials of the agency.
Top officials of the agency are being investigated for their complicity in an alleged diversion of N5.474 billion meant for the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health workers handling the Covid-19 pandemic in the nine states of NDDC.

ICPC, NUC move against Illegal Degree Schools, Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Institutions

ICPC has said that it would begin clamping down on illegal degree awarding institutions as well as tackle the problem of sexual harassment in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. ImageImageImageImage
The plan to tackle the problem of fake degrees and sexual harassment was reached with the management of the National Universities Commission (NUC) during a courtesy visit to ICPC’s headquarters, Abuja, recently.
Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Rashid Adamu, who led the delegation to ICPC lamented that schools that award higher degrees within six months and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in less than one year had become common in Nigeria.

Paman, a civil servant and former Chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja, was charged before Justice O. A. Adeniyi, by ICPC for misappropriating N5 million.
He was alleged to have made false retirement of N4.9 million for the N5 million approved by the Permanent Secretary on 4th December 2014 for the observance of the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9th 2014, contrary to Section 16 of the ICPC Act, 2000.

Criminal charges were filed by ICPC against Elih, a former staff of ICPC, before an FCT High Court presided over by Hon. Justice Adeniyi for allegedly demanding and receiving gratification from officials of Federal Ministry of Water Resources who were being investigated.
She is declared wanted as all efforts to serve her and procure her attendance in court have proved abortive.

The money, in the sum of over Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N250m) was diverted from the personnel cost account of the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto State.
ICPC intelligence-led investigation revealed that the fraud was carried out when deductions meant for third parties such as the State Board of Internal Revenue and over-payment deductions were diverted on IPPIS & channelled into the private accounts of an individual & a company.

ICPC, in a four-count charge, filed before Justice Usman Hassan, of the Kebbi State High Court, accused Mr. Nuhu of abuse of office when he allegedly diverted N6 million meant for attending a conference and paying for his post graduate studies, into personal use.
Counsel to ICPC, Mashkur Salisu, told the court that his offence violated Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 and Section 311 of the Penal Code.

Mrs. Egbuha, a teacher with Ozala Primary School, Abagana, Anambra State, was earlier arrested in 2019 by ICPC and granted bail,after an investigation into her financial transactions consequent upon the receipt of a petition,had shown her alleged involvement in money laundering.
Also in ICPC custody are a Compliance officer of GTB, Beckley Ojo, an Operations Manager, Chisomaga Daly-Okoro, a staff of the legal dept. of the bank,Sarah Ugamah & a lawyer to GTB Nsikak Udoh.

They were alleged to have connived with the sch. teacher to perpetrate the fraud.

ICPC seizes Multi-Million Naira Landed Property from Bauchi State Governor

Pursuant to its powers contained in Section 45 (4)(a-c) of the Corrupt Practices & Other Related Offences Act, 2000, ICPC has seized a multi-million naira property belonging to the Bauchi State Governor,
Senator Bala Mohammed, formerly Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The property which houses Zinaria International School is located at Plot 298 Wuye District, Cadastral Zone B3, FCT, Abuja.
Intelligence-led investigation revealed that Senator Mohammed in his capacity as the FCT Minister, had allocated the said property to a school that had himself and family members as directors and shareholders, despite an existing right of the Fed. Min. of Agric. over the land.

The court,presided over by Justice N. E. Maha, also in the same sitting, dismissed the allegation of abuse of fundamental human rights filed against ICPC by Mr. Obla.
The former SPIP Chairman was arrested by ICPC operatives in March, 2020, after being declared wanted in October last year by the Commission, for repeatedly failing to honour invitations sent to him.
