Today, CBP published a 500+ page report of what amounts to a sham investigation of Border Patrol’s racist & violent abuse of Haitian migrants at Del Rio last September.

They didn’t interview a single Haitian migrants. Not 1 survivor of the abuse they supposedly investigate. 🧵 CBP’s sham investigation didn’t interview a single surv
CBP Commissioner Chris Magnus said “efforts were made” to interview Haitian migrants. That is a bald-faced lie.

W/ @HaitianBridge & @jactioncenter, we represent 9 Haitian migrants who suffered mistreatment at Del Rio. The investigators were in communication w/ our legal team.
@HaitianBridge @jactioncenter CBP deliberately chose to exclude directly impacted Haitian migrants’ testimony from their investigation. They silenced the voices of Black migrants in 500 page report about an incident that involved massive anti-Black racism.

We are absolutely disgusted by the Biden Administration's decision to deport thousands of Haitians one month after the devastating earthquake and storm that resulted in 2,200 deaths and displaced hundreds of thousands of people. 🧵👇🏾
Families who lost everything to the 7.2 magnitude earthquake are now living through flash floods and mudslides. The destruction is large-scale and unprecedented, worsening Haiti’s already unstable political and social infrastructure.
Haiti is one of the most vulnerable countries to the effects of climate change – and we can expect climate disasters to continue to devastate the nation in the years to come.

Seeking asylum is an internationally-recognized human right, yet far too many Black asylum seekers are denied due process, locked in detention, and eventually deported. @DHS_Secretary must address racism in the asylum system and transform it towards justice! #Act4BlackImms
After years of heightened discrimination in the asylum and refugee systems, @DHS_Secretary must restore justice and root out white supremacy so that Black immigrants fleeing harm may find peace. @DHSgov #Act4BlackImms #DefendAsylum #RefugeesWelcome #ImmigrationIsABlackIssue

ACT NOW to help #StopDeportations!

Biden's 100-day moratorium on most deportations was blocked by a TX lawsuit, allowing mass deportations to continue at an alarming rate—especially of Black immigrants and asylum seekers.

Here's a thread of actions you can take ⬇️
1. Sign and share this petition to @POTUS to halt imminent deportations and take steps to ensure families remain together and free in the U.S.

Breaking:

After all night calls alongside partners @HaitianBridge : Haiti deportation flights are halted.

“The halt to Haitian flights came after a night of frantic calls from community activists & congressional staffers” ✊🏾 #ImmigrationIsABlackIssue

This halt comes after hundreds of Jamaican & Haitian immigrants were rapidly deported as soon as the TRO from Texas was issued. Their goal includes thousands of African immigrants as well. Our full demand is all deportations be stopped immediately!
#FreeThemAll
As a community that is the constant target of punitive anti-Blackness and anti-immigrant sentiment and policies, we were not surprised by this immediate and brazen attempt to halt progress on the immigration front through the 100-day deportation moratorium.

.@goss_molly (@IMUMIDF) explains that Haitian asylum applications are granted at very low rates in Mexico, where Haitian women face both anti-Black racism and gender discrimination.
.@GuerlineMJozef (@HaitianBridge): Many Haitians initially fled to Brazil or Chile, but then were forced – due to anti-Black discrimination and increasingly restrictive immigration policies – to seek safety elsewhere. Image
