First up, FF TD and serial driving offender Barry Cowen who threatened the Sunday Times if it published details of his driving offences. They went ahead and published anyway. Baz has never sued them. 
Next up, and related, we have Thomas Byrne who told local radio in Louth he was "consulting with my solicitors" about claims made by party activist Ken McFadden, about leaking Barry Cowen's transgressions. Thomas never sued on this occasion. But he has previously sued Google.

COMPLICITY AND WHITE-WASHING IN #SINGAPORE, A THREAD
1/ There are a number of PAP MPs who are very popular, and/or those who don't come from the more conventional PAP recruitment pools (civil service, military, legal fraternity) and seem more progressive than the rest.

2/ When it comes to popularity, the obvious example is Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the nation's favouritest PAP minister. There's also Louis Ng, who was known as a dedicated activist for animal rights and welfare even before he became a PAP member.
3/ To their credit, MPs like Tharman and Louis Ng work hard, and might have commendable records of raising important issues in Parliament, eg. access to affordable housing for single mothers. BUT... (you knew there was a "but")
For all the "GE2020 = young Singaporeans voting opp because it's fashionable!", can I just point out that, there is very little/limited evidence that vote swings in #GE2020 were because of millennials/Gen Z? It's not like there's a proliferation of polling data in #Singapore.
There are certain scenarios in which we can factor in young(er) voters: for example, when we talk about Sengkang GRC, where over 60% of the population are under 45. #GE2020
We can also think about whether priorities of young voters might be slowly shifting political discourse in #Singapore.
But to attribute #GE2020 results to young voters turning against PAP 'cos "it's trendy" is extremely premature and not evidence based.

Perhaps in the spirit of non-partisan, fairly distributed opinions in our hallowed halls of people ruling and policy making, we should have a NEUTRAL person conducting business.
This is incredibly patronising towards young Singaporeans. I’ve seen conversations on Twitter and IG, and some have reached out to me privately, that are far more engaged and thoughtful than many voters much older than them.
#GE2020 has affirmed the way I think about my role in civil society: I see my job as trying my best *at least* hold space for political discussion and engagement, so that younger SGeans and generations after can push further instead of having to claw back what was there before.
So I speak out against #POFMA, and I hold democracy classroom sessions to normalise political discussions, in the hopes that 10, 20 years down the line, newer generations of activists won't have to walk this same ground again, but can go farther.
I started and finished reading this book all in one night last night, with a snoring husband by my side and 2 sleeping cats at my feet. I couldn't put the book down! Liyana Dhamirah was one of the candidates for Red Dot United contesting at Jurong GRC this #GE2020.
She detailed her struggles in life in this book. I am amazed by her strength to push through and to be innovative to support her family. She wrote about not having a home and there were times when her family didn't have anything to eat other than plain rice with salt.
Through all of it, she spoke about how she always spoke to God, even more so when she didn't have anyone to turn to for help. She never stopped trying. She kept pushing forward.

I was really lucky with my entry point: 2010, when the PAP government was still talking about taking a "light touch" with regulating online spaces and discourse, before the Internet Brigade trolls, and that window when they talked about a "new normal" of being more open.
At my polling station: In the beginning they gave out gloves at the ballot paper collection point; after you kept your poll card and IC, you sanitised your hands, then put the gloves on. #GE2020
This made sense, but held up the queue, so in an effort to move things along and be helpful the presiding officers started giving out gloves to people standing in the queue outside the polling station. #GE2020
This was faster, but then people were removing their masks for ID check with their gloves on, then struggling to put the masks back on (which often involved touching their faces) still with the gloves on, then touching things... thus defeating the purpose of gloves. #GE2020

The self-inking pens mark a cross in red. The one I used was just fine. They absolutely do not use invisible ink. If you are in doubt, bring your own pen. #GE2020

There are bits of the Cooling-Off Day rules where lawyers I know disagree on what it means exactly and what is or isn’t allowed. Unfortunately this sort of confusion usually only gets cleared if/when someone kena. The law gets clarified when it’s tested. #GE2020
