افسران دستگاه امنیتی ملی عراق مدتی قبل از حادثه، دوربین های نظارتی را در فرودگاه پیدا کردند که روی آن به سمت ورودی مهمانان مهم بود. افسران این دوربین ها را برچیدند. بعدا مشخص شد که این اقدام از اقدامات لجستیک و مقدماتی برای اجرای عملیات ترور بوده است.
