2. It may be because in Pak/South Asian educational systems, one is required to memorize the materials taught and reproduce them in exams 😢

3. I've seen a lot of people resist changing their worldview as a result of which they approach PS with resentment and even anger 🤷♂️

Day 6 RAT negative, did a zoom appt for brother, drove around to get RATs, and had maybe an hour of actually doing work where my concentration was on point and finished reviewing a couple papers..

My first (of hopefully) many installments of graduate student/early career academic profiles highlights an old friend and classmate: Kenny Liden. @Kenny_Linden is a PhD candidate in @iu_ceus who researches environmental and animal history in #Mongolia. #enviormentalism #Fulbright 
Specifically, Kenny is examining how the socio-political structures and new knowledge brought forth by Soviet-style socialism (especially collectivization) and veterinary science shaped and reshaped human interactions with their living environments.
Kenny is an accomplished scholar who has spent significant time in Mongolia. His dissertation is based primarily on archival work in Ulaanbaatar and Öwörkhangai province and on ethnography in Mongolian countryside. His research has been funded by Fulbright-Hays.
My journey to my #PhD program was an absolute #strugglebus. I graduated with a 2.75 GPA from @GeorgiaTech. Most grad applicants have a 3.5 or higher. #Yikes

Fortunately, my mentor @RaquelLieberman gave me the opportunity to work as a #research technician in her lab for 2 yrs to gain the experience I needed for grad school.

After working in her lab for almost 2 years..I reapplied again. This time I felt VERY confident I was ready for the #PhD.
