The Dec23 EUA contract broke above several resistance levels in recent sessions, hitting €97.55/t on 1 February, the highest since August 2022.
The rally since mid-January has definitely caught some participants unprepared, triggering short-covering

Damit wird überall in Europa die Waldnutzung natürlicher, mehr Humus wird auf landwirtschaftlichen Flächen im Boden bleiben und Moore werden nasser bleiben. Damit nützt Klimaschutz auch naturnäherer Landwirtschaft und dem Naturschutz!

Gestern Nacht hat das Klimapaket #fitfor55 als Teil des #GreenDeal der EU die entscheidende Hürde im Rat der Mitgliedsländer genommen. Das Verbrenner-Aus war nur eines, und nicht mal das wichtigste Element des Klimadeals. Eine Einordnung:
1⃣ Das Paket an beschlossenen Klimagesetzen liefert nun die konkreten Maßnahmen in Energieerzeugung, Verkehr, Landnutzung, Gebäuden, usw., um die beschlossenen -55% Treibhausgasminderung europaweit tatsächlich und verbindlich zu erreichen. Es ist das größte EU-Klimapaket ever!
2⃣ Gegenüber den bisherigen Klimabeschlüssen der EU erreichen wir fast eine Verdoppelung der jährlichen Klimaschutzanstrengung bis 2030. Und das nicht nur in vagen Absichtserklärungen sondern unterfüttert mit konkreten Maßnahmen. Die Arbeit am 2040er Klimaziel kommt dann!

The Council agreed to keep the overall ambition of 61% of emissions reductions by 2030 in the sectors covered by the EU ETS (mainly industry and power generation), as proposed by the Commission. This means an annual reduction rate of 4.2%!
For sectors covered by the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), free allowances will be ended progressively, between 2026 and 2035. However, the Council accepted a slower reduction at the beginning and an accelerated rate of reduction at the end of this 10-year period.

La décision vise à maintenir en service des centrales à charbon qui auraient dû fermer en 2022 (2,1 GW) et 2023 (0,5 GW), ainsi que les centrales figurant déjà dans la réserve de stabilité du réseau (4,3 GW charbon et 1,6 GW fioul) et certaines centrales à lignite (1,9 GW).

Der wichtigste Baustein des Pakets ist der EU-Emissionshandel für CO2-Zertifikate. Er deckt bisher ca. 43 % aller europäischen CO2-Emissionen ab (Stand 2021) und soll laut Kommission auf 61% steigen.

Der EU-Umweltausschuss des Parlaments hat nach langen Verhandlungen 67% erreicht, was aber jetzt durch eine fossile Allianz von Konservativen, Liberalen und Rechten wieder auf 61% gekürzt wurde. Damit hängen sie das 1,5-Grad-Klimaziel an den Nagel.

Das Europäische Klimagesetz, gilt als Grundlage für das gesamte Paket. Mit dem neuen europäischen Klimaziel von minus 55% netto (vorher war es ein 40% Brutto-Ziel; es sind nun 52,8% brutto), ist der Grundstein gelegt worden. Alles muss auf den Prüfstand.

Batteries Li+: le mur des matériaux pour 2025. Les prix des métaux ont explosé au cours de cette dernière année, entraînant à ce stade une augmentation directe du prix des batteries de 15%. Comment la situation va-t-elle évoluer ? 1/n
Pour le lithium, il va falloir en priorité ouvrir 50 mines à travers le monde, avec un temps avant l’entrée en production de ces mines est de 10 à 15 ans. Il faudra donc compter sur les mines existantes d’ici là. 2/n
Les mines de matériaux critiques existantes sont essentiellement en Australie, Congo, Indonésie & Chine, mais le reste de la filière est essentiellement contrôlée par la Chine, qui produit 75% des batteries Li+ dans le monde. 3/n
