Many have endorsed TNLs as the way to make our elections more #European, from pro-#EU groups (@federalists, @EMInternational), to politicians (@EmmanuelMacron, @vonderleyen) & advocates (@jonworth, @alemannoEU, @AndrewDuffEU). They argue TNLs will bring a European dimension. 2/25
To be clear, the point of this thread is *not* to argue that TNLs will make our common election less European, simply that they will not remedy the election's core deficiency (that national parties are in control) and that, therefore, they are not the right way forward. 3/25

Sharing on social media isn't enough. You need to speak to the people in your life and get them to the poll station tomorrow.

Been holding off on posting this #Thread regarding the #LocalElection2019 going on in England and Northern Ireland, but the results are fascinating to me here in Scotland for sure. There is a clear #RemainBacklash going on and this is HUGE, shall go into more detail on why.
Clearly, the #LocalElections2019 is one of the biggest elections in history for the Lib Dems and the biggest night for the Green Party, there is been a massive shift towards these two parties over the usual Tories and Labour, but why is that? Clearly, #Brexit is a big part of why
How the Tories and Labour have handled #Brexit is nothing short of embarrassing, both these parties have refused to support a #PeoplesVote and give us a second say on leaving the EU. Yet Lib Dems and Green Party have been consistent since the get-go as remain parties.
What kind of person chooses to use specifically NON-European people fleeing war, who have no EU rights to enter the UK, as a political tool to scare people about immigration from EU countries?

As much as I criticise the failure of our media in 2016, @krishgm did an absolutely stellar job taking Nigel Farage apart on the blatant racism behind that poster in 2016.
These people... For God's sake! We let them WIN the #EuropeanElections in 2014! And they're the ones who pressured Cameron to call the referendum. Our country is being shaped in their image!

Don't be fooled: Farage is trying to pretend he's a moderate now with his new Brexit Party, and that UKIP is now too extreme for him, but he was just better at making it look respectable than Gerard Batten is.

UKIP doesn't win General Elections, but they won the 2014 #EuropeanElections because only 34% of us bothered to turn up.

The consequence of that was that Nigel Farage became the face of the UK.
So despite us having 3 times the average number of MEPs, Mr "Destroy the EU" wasted our influence then told us we had none.
