The musical number included nods to TV classics like “Friends,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Sesame Street,” and verses from LL Cool J, @lildickytweets and @RitaWilson.
It also featured a shoutout to diversity on TV that the awards themselves, which shut out actors of color despite a historic number of nominations, did not reflect.

The 2021 Emmys were a regression in diversity and representation Sunday night, with none of the 49 non-white nominees for acting and/or reality hosting receiving awards. 
Shows that received the most recognition at this year’s awards included ‘The Crown,’ ‘Ted Lasso,’ ‘Mare of Easttown,’ and ‘The Queen’s Gambit’—all shows with a predominantly white cast.
Despite the record number of nominations for performers of color and the variety of racially diverse presenters, the first hour of the award show only recognized white performers.

In the preface, Hibberd outright explains that the book contains "fifty" new interviews with cast & crew - by which he means each paragraph blurb, but I don't begrudge that: even one paragraph can contain revealing, vital info. Also admits he re-used some prior articles.
