Surprising, and very good news: seems like the Italian Coast Guard has assumed coordination responsibilities for #Marejonio rescue ship, which rescued around 100 people today in the Med, & asked Italian govt to designate a safe port. First time in over a year
Update/correction: seems the Italian Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) said it asked Italian authorities to designate a place of safety for disembarkation, but never said it assumed coordination responsibilities. Thanks to @scandura and @nelloscavo for clarifying.
