This is incompatible with earlier versions. There are some features I am yet to port over, but will do so eventually (after I finish my thesis). Would love if people would like to try and add some features / clean up my piles of messy code.
Also this movie is rendered with #eevee, I'm really going to try and practice more with EEVEE to try and improve render times and make it better for those who don't have a 3090 to rely upon.

The future of real-time NPR shading relies on the ability to render in 3D, apply 2D effects, use those effects to alter the 3D render, apply 2D effects, ad infinitum... The industry is stuck in the "Render, composite, done." mindset. #b3d #bnpr

Opening up this process would open up 3D looks that would revolutionize Animation and Art in general. It is something I hope for in #blender #Eevee. And I hope the developers lean in to this possibility in the future.

This would also take advantage of Eevee's speed and unique abilities (3D->2D->3D) as complementary to #Cyclesx (its speed and denoising is making Eevee less and less relevant for PBR workflows).

So, we're working on a small game called:

and here's a proof-of-concept/lookdev scene that we've been making these past few months!

This is a straight #eevee render, made 100% inside #Blender3d, using #greasepencil and lots of custom scripting to turn it into game friendly assets 😉
(= it looks just the same inside #UnrealEngine)
We're almost done prototyping the base mechanics, so we'll be making and sharing (and streaming?) more art soon-ish.
