Vamos voltar algumas centenas de milhares de anos atrás.

Houve uma aldeia.

Nasceu um cachorro. Depois que cresceu, foi em busca de comida. Comeu alguns vegetais selvagens...

@gustavoramos @PauloDemchuk @alan_schramm @38bitcoinheiro @R0nih @rpandolfato @RedpillOliver - Um dia, houve um incêndio na floresta 🔥

- O cachorro fugiu. Depois que o fogo acalmou, o cachorro voltou.

Os vegetais foram cozidos no incêndio florestal 🧵
@gustavoramos @PauloDemchuk @alan_schramm @38bitcoinheiro @R0nih @rpandolfato @RedpillOliver Achou-os mais saborosos e nutritivos e continuou a comê-los. Poucos dias depois, alguns deles continham altas bactérias. O cachorro comeu e morreu lentamente.

Meses depois, apareceu outro cachorro. Depois que cresceu, foi em busca de comida. Comeu alguns vegetais selvagens 🧵

I can name quite a few; but #GopinathMohanty, whom my parents and I have translated, is just as great, and, in many senses, greater. We need to be cautious before passing carte blanche judgement against #Indianwriters. I've read &/or taught all the novelists below save Lovecraft. ImageImageImage
#CSLewis and #JRRTolkien taught my father at Christ Church, Oxford. Arthur Conan Doyle and Jules Verne certainly don't bat in the same league as Chekov. And to put Jonathan Swift in here? How's that? #GopinathMohanty is in the league of #Tolstoy, #Dostoevsky, #Dickens & #Hardy.
As well, I've pretty much read the bulk of the writings of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Dickens and Hardy. And, to this list of #greats, I could add two or three dozen European novelists, but let me add #GeorgeEliot: #GopinathMohanty is as brilliant & as trenchantly incisive as her.

When Charles #Dickens unexpectedly died in 1870, readers felt doubly cheated, not only losing the author, but also the ending of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." But with spiritualism at its height, avid fans decided to take matters into their own hands and consult...his ghost! 👻
In Battleborough, Vermont, in 1872, tramp printer Thomas Power James had a trance in a boarding house seánce. "Charles Dickens" wrote a polite note to James, requesting a 15 Nov. meeting.

Ghost Dickens asked James to write the ending of "Edwin Drood" through "spirit-pen" 👻🖋️
T.P. James kindly did so, with a medium's aid. The result was a completed "Part Second" (1873), which features a "Medium's Preface"!

👻Ghost Dickens claims that injured Edwin Drood is rescued by Durdles, allies with Datchery to expose an insane Jasper, and later marries Rosa 👻

I keep being asked what #Dickens would have made of #Brexit. Charles & Catherine Dickens took their family to live in #Genoa, #Italy for a year (in 1844-1845) – something Brits will no longer be able to do after 29 March. #travel
Before moving to #Italy, Charles #Dickens employed Antonio Gallenga, a political #refugee from #Parma who had migrated to #London, to teach him Italian. In #Brexit Britain, Gallenga would no longer be allowed to work legally.
#Dickens wrote a #travelogue about his year in #Italy. ‘Pictures from Italy’ details the family’s travels through #Europe to their new home in #Genoa, & Dickens' #travels around the country. In #Brexit Britain Dickens would no longer have the right to work in another EU country.
