At-risk population were vaccinated next in India, and so were the elderly. Vaccine efficacy has shown to have more profound immune waning in elderly individuals.
These populations are an urgent priority, to prevent severe disease & death (The 2x dose still does that well).

Mumbai Police has launched an investigation into a fake COVID-19 vaccination racket, where people are suspected to have been injected with distilled water instead of the vaccine. A special investigation team led by DCP Vishal Thakur will head the case.

Reportedly, 390 residents of the Hiranandani Heritage Club in Kandivali (West) were administered what they believed were COVID-19 vaccines on May 30. However, they were actually injected with distilled water. This does not harm people. The beneficiaries also paid Rs. 4.56 lakh.
Further, only 120 beneficiaries received vaccination certificates and they had the names of different hospitals on their certificates. An inquiry into these hospitals revealed that there was no agreement with them to conduct a vaccination drive. That's how the scam was unearthed.

Out of 274 samples with breakthrough infection, 35 (12.8%) individuals received Covaxin and 239 (87.2%) individuals received Covishield.

A 3rd wave of covid infections in India is unavoidable and may hit the country within 8 weeks, AIIMS chief Dr. Randeep Guleria said. The vitality of the new wave however, would depend upon vaccination coverage and level of adherence to COVID-19 protocols.

Dr. Guleria added, "As we have started unlocking, there is again a lack of COVID-appropriate behavior. We don't seem to have learned from what happened between the 1st and the 2nd wave." He further said, "It all depends on how we go ahead in terms of COVID-appropriate behavior."
So will this wave affect children more? A recent seroprevalence study was done by #WHO and AIIMS on 10,000 samples. Citing that, the Indian govt asserted that the level of antibodies was similar in both adults and children. So, the new wave might affect every age group equally.

Bharat Biotech attacking reports and papers by other researchers is bad form and dangerous for its own good name. They should focus on the integrity of their own research efforts and leave it to independent scientists to critique both their own and others' research.
@BharatBiotech is not in competition with other vaccines. #Covaxin does need to to produce more antibodies than #Covishield to be a successful product. Covaxin needs merely to produce enough of an immune response to be protective against SARS-Cov2.
@BharatBiotech would do better to focus on publishing their much delayed Phase-3 trial data - now promised for July - with genome-sequenced evidence in respect of delta variant. This is not a zero sum game.
94 crore people need to be immunized in India as of now. So that's 188 crore doses of #CovidVaccine needed. 28 crore doses already made. Around 160 crore doses needed. 25% of this to Private sector is 40 crore. Assume 3/4th of this 25% get #COVISHIELD and 1/4th get #Covaxin
