Care4Calais is asking for men's coats this winter, because cold and wet conditions are descending on the North Atlantic and the refugees face life-threatening exposure in the coming months. 
Cold weather alone makes life very difficult for the people of Calais, but rain and sleet make the problem so much worse.

A good winter coat keeps a refugee warm and dry, and enables them to access the other services that our wonderful Care4Calais volunteers provide during the day – even when the weather is bad.
We want to address some of the comments we've had this morning, but we'd only like to explain these once because quite honestly it shouldn't need to be addressed at all. Social causes are NOT mutually exclusive. It is possible to support more than one charity at a time 1/3
Just because people donate to support the #refugees in #Calais, it doesn't mean they don't also donate & support UK #homeless charities. In fact, most of our supporters have the depth of personality to do something about homelessness crisis and regularly #volunteer in the UK 2/3
Also, for your information, we work with two UK homeless charities: @Shelter and @EmmausUK. Last year our #Coats4Calais appeal resulted in over 5,000 donated coats. Approx. 1,000 of these weren't suitable as they L sizes. These coats went to @Shelter to help UK homeless ppl 3/3
