For folks asking, we track this broad cluster of activity as MeteorExpress (s1.ai/meteor). They've used a variety of false fronts before– Indra (Syria wipers 2021), Gonjenshke Darand / Predatory Sparrow (gas Pump attack++), and *perhaps* Edalat Ali (IR prisons)

🧵Heading home after a great time at #CYBERWARCON yesterday. IMO, a good threat intel or #INFOSEC conference should mainly 1. Stimulate new thinking and grow the field 2. Facilitate genuine networking 3. Be fun! This conference is definitely all three.

The Pyeongchang Olympics attack was the culmination of a lengthy harassment campaign following Russia's ban from the Games in South Korea. Attacks on Olympic orgs began within hours of the decision. DDOS. They sent an away team to hack orgs from right outside. 3/x
