Texas is facing a new wave. Delta has erased much progress to end the pandemic. Full vaccination protects nearly all from hospitalization and death.

This Delta wave is increasing hospitalizations at similar or faster rates as previous Texas waves. Hospitalizations are rising in all age groups and mostly all are unvaccinated.

We're starting to get clear from the Independence Day weekend insofar as #COVID19TX metrics as reported by @TexasDSHS. There is reason for guarded optimism in the data. 1/4 @TPPF
First of all, the most #COVID tests ever were done, 75,556, with testing over the past 7 days up 19% from the prior 7 days. The positive test rate was down a bit after jumping higher over the last 2 days. The share of active cases hospitalized was down today. 2/4
And, the hospitalizations curve is bending. Tomorrow will confirm. Critically, we’ve seen as many people recover as new active cases and fatalities for a full week now. Prior to that we had 2+ weeks of new cases overmatching newly recovered. 3/4
THREAD: A lot of people in #Texas have been complaining about the masks. It is unconstitutional to mandate that people wear masks. We have laws. These orders are not laws. #FakeNewsMediaClowns reporting spikes in #COVID19TX cases, but why are they telling us only half-truths?
98% of the infected have recovered. With such a high #RecoveryRate, why do we even need a vaccine for this? There is manipulation at all levels of U.S. institutions going unchecked in order to control us with fear. Mask-wearing mandate isn't law. We have laws. We're not China!

1. @JohnCornyn This is a tone deaf message that minimizes the severity of the problem. More that a quarter of ICU admits are #COVID pts. This does not account for pts that are admitted but not in the ICU and PUI's that are admitted. #COVID19TX
2. People are still coming in with heart attacks, strokes, cancers, MVA's. We cannot turn these pts away. Many pts have delayed care for their cancers from April and now will have to delay again with potentially devastating outcomes. #COVID19TX
3. This does NOT take into account the exponential growth that is expected over the next few. We do not have enough doctors and nurses to manage this influx. While people are roaming around maskless, the medical community is bracing for impact. Do not minimize this. #COVID19TX
