2/ Neuromuscular diseases affect the respiratory system in 3 main areas:
1⃣Ventilatory Function
2⃣Cough Function
3⃣Swallowing and Airway Protection
As muscle weakness progresses, this will lead to alveolar hypoventilation with subsequent hypoxemia and hypercapnia.
