In 2020, @ConservationOrg launched the Mantalingahan Landscape Conservation Project, a five-year effort to restore and protect the Mount Mantalingahan landscape, which is located on the Philippine island of Palawan. conservation.org/corporate-enga…
Palawan has the most mangrove cover in the Philippines, spanning nearly 60,000 hectares. These mangroves buffering coastal communities from storm surges, are nurseries for marine species, support local food security, & absorb & store enormous amounts of climate-warming carbon. 
Only an estimated 430-750 Philippine cockatoos are believed to remain in the wild. The Mantalingahan Landscape supports healthy mangroves that are essential for this large parrot, as well as many other species, making it one of the most important bird habitats in the Philippines.

Now there's no universally agreed definition of life: even Erwin Schrödinger was uncertain what it was. But an ability to resist entropy, to reproduce, to mutate, to have a metabolism and to self-organise feature in most definitions.
And whatever life is we reliably assume it's all interlinked in some way. We still use the medieval idea of a 'tree of life' to map the connections and currently scientists believe this tree has either two or three fundamental branches.

My fave bird is the endangered Visayan tarictic hornbill 🥰 In the wild, this species can now only be found in Negros and Panay islands. Follow Talarak Foundation on IG for news on their captive breeding program for these. #IBD2020 #BiodiversityDay
Staying with island endemics theme, here's a Visayan spotted deer. They're endangered. Endemic to West Visayan region but presently only known from forest patches in Negros & Panay. @silliman_u CENTROP has a captive breeding program for this species. #IBD2020 #BiodiversityDay
