#DariusCrooks but yall keep telling the Black women he harmed (scammed, assaulted, stole from, lied on) to basically shut up and stop talking about it. Seeing BM AND BW tell BW to shut up about their abuse makes me ill. Y’all sound like the White ppl your heroes fought against.
Meg got SHOT by Tory Lanez and I see a ton of us out here saying it’s fake or for clout? And they stand by Tory??? Why does it KILL some of y’all to support a Black woman? and there are BW doing this shit too! Like...u think these niggas are ever gonna back u when u need it?
If there is a BM harming BW, he will ALWAYS get the benefit of the doubt. You rush to believe him, bc he is a man, and will always be more valuable to you than BW. Disgusting. MORONS under Pardi’s tweets clowning him and Megan and pledging allegiance to A NIGGA WHO SHOOTS WOMEN.

As members of the Labor Tech Research Network, we share concerns about @timnitGebru's exit in December 2020 from @Google, where she researched the #ethics of artificial intelligence. (1) nature.com/articles/d4158… @nature @ASAnews
This has adverse implications for Black women working in #tech companies, which are already known for their lack of diversity. @ASA_SKAT @SSSP1org @datasociety @AINowInstitute @4sWeb (2)
The research of @timnitGebru and others has revealed the shortcomings of facial recognition for dark-skinned people, how #automation can both replicate and obfuscate #discrimination and how #algorithmic systems reproduce racial exclusion and environmental racism. (3)

It's a shame so many people are learning @timnitGebru's name because a scared white man fired her from Google. While you’re paying attention, here are some vastly more important and interesting things to know about Timnit Gebru, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude. #ISupportTimnit
(1) Originally from Ethiopia, @timnitGebru came to the US when she was 16-years-old. High school teachers expected her to fail. A guidance counselor nearly gaslit her into believing no university would ever accept her. She proved them wrong repeatedly. forbes.com/sites/mariyaya…
(2) Alongside @jovialjoy and @rajiinio, @timnitGebru is responsible for identifying racial bias in facial recognition technology. She plays a central role in what is now mainstream awareness of algorithmic bias and the danger it poses. More on this in #5. nytimes.com/2018/02/09/tec…

My official, public comment on @timnitGebru's firing googlewalkout.medium.com/standing-with-… .

I strongly disagree with the way Dr. Timnit Gebru was fired and the firing itself. 1/6
The research community within Google and external to it needs to listen to marginalized voices when they speak and make space for them, even when it's something we don't want to hear. Particularly when it's something we don't want to hear. 2/6
Dr. Gebru has been that rare voice, courageously calling attention to the places we need to do better. I'm less interested in the most recent incident that transpired and instead would like us to focus, 3/6

We, the undersigned, stand in solidarity with Dr. Timnit Gebru, who was terminated from her position as Staff Research Scientist & Co-Lead of Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) team at Google, following unprecedented research censorship.2/19 #IStandWithTimnit #BelieveBlackWomen

After ~6yrs of consistent & positive engagement with the community, organizations, & press on behalf of Google, I suddenly went dark just as I had achieved a significant milestone in my career: heading the DC office for @pinterest, leading federal policy for the company. 2/
What should have been a moment of pride and the beginning of a long journey achieving federal and social impact wins for the company, Pinners, and the communities it serves instead marked a period of glaringly unfair pay, intense discrimination, and terrifying retaliation. 3/

I shouldn’t have to share this story in the year of our Lord, 2020 - but here we are. I’m an alum of Yale, Google, FB, in the WaPo Tech 202 Network, etc…and recently decided to leave @Pinterest, which just declared ‘solidarity with BLM.’ What a joke. 🙃1/

As a Black woman, seeing @Pinterest’s middle of the night “Black employees matter” statement made me scratch my head after I just fought for over a full year to be paid and leveled fairly… 2/
A year in which I:
a) was doxxed by a white male colleague - he shared my cell number, photo, & name w/ violently racist/misogynistic parts of the internet (followed up by a dangerously inadequate response from @Pinterest - there's so much more to this horrible story😔) 3/

Today, we were joined by community activists, women leaders and partner organizations in Virginia as a commitment to stand with survivors everywhere. Based on recent behavior by Virginia's Lt. Gov. Fairfax and Sen. Morrisey, we are compelled to speak out. #BelieveBlackWomen
"Everyone deserves equality, safety and dignity at work. Working people’s voices and experiences have confirmed that all workplaces - from movie sets to farms to boardrooms - present challenges and risk factors for harassment." ~ @aerodgers
Unfortunately, people of color, LGBTQIA individuals, immigrants and the disabled are among the most vulnerable and have been historically excluded from critical civil rights and key protections.

We see this in many intersections throughout our communities. #BelieveBlackWomen

Thread for my white #feminist friends (of all genders)

Content: Sexual violence, racism

There is a racial divide on social media regarding #SurvivingRKelly
Most black folks I know have posted about the docuseries in the last few days (thankfully black people in my networks are expressing support of the victims of sexual abuse & coercion though their posts suggest to me that is not the case with their entire friends network)
In contrast, nearly all white folks I know are not even acknowledging the docuseries, the #RKelly conversation, nothing. This divide/contrast reminds me that white people are not required to know what’s happening to and among black folks.
