1/ According to a new study, floating marine life, known as “#neuston,” often ends up in the same places as #plastic says @RebeccaRHelm. Apparently, buoyant plastic debris and organisms tend to float up & clump together in water, like cereal in a bowl. wired.co.uk/article/ocean-…

So what happens when you get to the UN? First you get your coffee. Always. Next you enter the room, at each chair is a little ear cups (aka earpieces). You put on the earpiece, pick your channel, & listen to the translation in your language. As a result, the room is really quiet!

We used to think the #highseas were a deadzone and the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (#UNCLOS) doesn't say all that much about its protection.
We now know that these deep & distant waters are full of biodiversity and are a massive carbon sink.
