The first takeaway is fairly obvious: the #B1G is running the show here. So, the future of the @Pac12 and @WSUCougars status as a Power 5 program follows whether the Big 10 decides to add schools when they finalize their tv deal next month.
As I have noted previously, I don’t think that the #B1G is going to expand beyond Notre Dame. The reason: they don’t need to. They’re already the second best conference &!the additions of the LA schools provide their member schools with ONE all expenses paid trip to LA each year
So it appears as if the #B1G may hold off on further expansion until atleast 2024 (why 2024?, ND/NBC contract expires in April 2025 & the BigTen won't make a move w/out a definitive answer from the Irish). Let's take a look at what Pods may look like from the new 16 team B1G.🧵

Really like the new coaching staff in Seattle. Should put them in a better position to win. Roster talent purge from the prev regime will have an early effect (last 2 classes were 39th, 86th) but the ship has been righted.

Spoke with #B1G commissioner Kevin Warren today on @SIRIUSXM about conference realignment. I asked him about contact with schools outside the Big Ten.
“I have not had any conversations myself about reaching out to schools or any schools reaching out to me.”

With expansion, Kevin Warren said the Big Ten will take a thoughtful, methodical approach.

The #B1G Council of Presidents and Chancellors voted unanimously to resume the football season starting the weekend of October 23-24, 2020. bigten.org/news/2020/9/16…
Nebraska GOP Senator Ben Sasse: “The Big Ten’s presidents, chancellors, and the ‘return to competition task force' deserve credit for reevaluating and concluding that we can responsibly bring back football."
Sasse (R-NE): "We need to keep working to beat this nasty virus, but today’s decision is a good signpost that, with prudent practices and rigorous testing regimes, we can keep moving back toward normal.”
#B1G presidents and chancellors voted 11-3 to postpone the fall season, the league confirms in a brief responding to #Nebraska players' lawsuit. Brief also outlines that decision based on multiple medical factors applying to all 14 schools. Two groups of experts advised league.
League sources tell ESPN that #Nebraska, #OhioState and #Iowa are the three schools that voted against postponing the fall season. This will surprise absolutely no one who has followed the story.
The #B1G's brief filed today targets "three incorrect and unsupportable assertions" in the players' lawsuit, mostly around the vote (it happened) and threshold for approval (60% according to bylaws, league got 78.6%). Also pushes back on claim that one study fueled postponement.
