Remember it b/c it’s a chapter in the Church’s history that will potentially split መንበረ ተ/ሃይማኖት & መንበረ አክሱም while priests, deacons, theologians & self-anointed gate keepers of the Church in the center kept passionately supporting the war.
Most import’ly, remember it as a dark chapter when the center collectively kept a policy of silence & of denial about a mass murder committed against civilians at the heart of a sacred place, an identity of Ethiopia’s historicised narratives of civilisation & of Christianity.

1. The involvement of a national body to investigate a situation, which is marked by gross violations of human rights & humanitarian norms; and committed in a politically polarized society as current #Ethiopia is unprecedented, including in @UNHumanRights 's experience 2/24
2. There was no good reason to involve the @EthioHRC in this endeavor. In fact, it was the sheer insistence of the #Ethiopian regime that forced the @UNHumanRights to accept the arrangement as a last resort. No other explanation is provided on z matter. This is suspicious. 3/24

by separatists in the Tigray Region. Ethiopia responded as we did when our Capitol was recently attacked. All human rights abuses must be investigated and justice must be sought. But there are lies being spread just as Trump spread lies. The biggest is alleged #Axum "massacre"

This week Be’aman Netsere, a seasoned Orthodox Church scholar, & Yared Shumete, a humanitarian, published their travel experiences about the war in #Tigray.
Both raised facts Ethiopia needs to reckon with.
Most important, Be’aman confirmed the #Axum & #Dengolat massacres.

Yared too raised important factors that need a collective reckoning: the psychological trauma the people of #Tigray are enduring as a result of this senseless war & his fear on whether they will make the annual walk to Adewa in connection with the March 02 Adwa Victory Day.
On p 5 of @Amnesty report alleging @Axum massacre, it says ““This briefing is based on 11 days of research by Amnesty International at the refugee reception center in Hamdayet, eastern Sudan, in January 2021, as well as on numerous phone interviews with witnesses in Axum”.
Those are the words in the @amnesty report, not mine. So here are the conclusions we can make from that statement: First, no personnel or “investigators” from @Amnesty visited or saw first hand the city of Axum either shortly after the alleged 28-29 November “massacre” NOR
did they visit the “crime scene” before writing their report! They based an accusation of a massacre in one of the world’s holiest Christian cities on phone interviews! Not one photo, video, copy of text message, phone records of people calling for help or to report the incident.

The @UN on Friday said that it is "now abundantly clear to all" that Eritrean troops are operating throughout Ethiopia's northern #Tigray region and "well-corroborated" reports suggest they are responsible for atrocities. @amnesty too has been calling for #justice #freedom

“all people from Besober, Ulaga, Bala, Chamaro, Hawelti and May Mekden kebeles were displaced due to the conflict. #IDPs and the affected communities lost their belongings, mainly household items, food stock, jewelry, & cash. Most of those belongings were looted or destroyed 2/20
According to the regional authorities in #Mekelle, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟰.𝟱 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 currently require some sort of humanitarian assistance... In Alamata and nearby areas only, about 𝟳𝟵𝟮,𝟱𝟬𝟬 require urgent food assistance. 3/20
